This is the thread where subscribers should bring their Xbox support issues. The collective experience of the Xbox community is one of the most powerful tools to help you fix any gaming issue, and we've been seeing some awesome responses. We love to see gamers helping gamers!

There will also be Xbox support team members who will be helping moderate and provide solutions and can be recognized by their "Official Support" flair. We'll try to provide support right here in the thread but won't be able to respond to every single question. We might redirect you to Support.Xbox.com to contact one of our support teams or send you a private message if that's the best way to help. The Xbox Support team members won't respond to requests for help with third party products or situations that would violate the Terms of Use, Community Standards, or void a product warranty.

Let us know what you need help with! We're here to help you with Xbox services, games, hardware, social features, and more. Thank you for being part of the Xbox community!

When posting a question, please include the following information

    • For console issues - your console type (One S, S All-Digital, One X, or original) and whether or not it is on an insider OS build.
    • For controller issues - whether the controller is standard first-party, Elite, Adaptive, or third-party.
    • For headset issues - the brand and model of the headset.
    • For game issues - if the game is disc-based, digitally owned, accessed via Game Pass, or accessed via Game Share with another user.

Is there a subreddit that focuses more on xbox news than people showing off there consoles.

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 06:01 AM PST

No hate but half of the posts I see on here are just images of xboxs. I'm not saying not to post them here but is there a sub that's discourages this and is more focused on the news.

Edit. This post got removed. Mods haven't told me why.

    Edit 2: Post got unremoved.

Has xbox.com been restocked with Series X|S consoles since its initial drop?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 01:02 PM PST

I see other stores have been restocked a few times now, but nothing about xbox.com. I redeemed my ms rewards points to hopefully buy one, but now I'm starting to think I made a grave mistake. I still have until the end of February to hit a restock, but I'm worried they are stocking retailers now instead of their own site.

Wolfenstein 2 has an epic use of Auto HDR

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 06:15 AM PST

I've been replaying Wolfenstein : The New Colossus on my Series X and I have to say that the Auto HDR is really kicking this game up a notch. The sequence when you ride the giant mechanical dog with the flamethrower is sublime. That level is seriously dark and that flamethrower really brightens the world. It looks amazing.

If you have a TV that does decent HDR, you gotta replay this one.

Series S|X Owners - check out Forza Motorsport 7 on Game Pass - it’s a great showcase

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:31 AM PST

The last time I put significant hours into a game in the proper Forza Motorsport series was FM4 on the 360. Since then I've just been spending time with the Forza Horizon series and had not looked back.

But I decided to download FM7 via Game Pass this weekend on my Series X and now I absolutely cannot put it down.

Not only is this game 4K60 on the Series X - and it looks amazing (the reflections on wet pavement are incredible) - but what really makes it a showcase are the dang loading times and how seamless the experience is on these SSDs and the Velocity architecture.

My memory of playing FM5/6 on my Xbox One was just a series of endlessly frustrating waits. Car selection? Wait for a dozen seconds or more for each car to load for you to look at. Finish a 3 lap race in 3 minutes? Get ready to spend 2 more minutes loading the next race. You basically spent as much - or more - time in loading screens as you did playing the actual game.

But FM7 on the Series X is just insane. You can flip thru cars on the selection screen and the fully detailed model + livery appears nearly instantly.

After you finish a race, the game starts loading the next level in the background. Once you click thru your rewards you get a "tweak settings while the level loads" screen and without fail, this screen comes and then disappears immediately because the level has finished loading. Then you press A and you're racing. You can literally go thru a whole series, track to track to track, and never spend any time waiting on loading anything - by the time you've clicked thru the credits you earned on the last race, the next one is ready to go.

This makes the game impossible to put down haha. I don't even have time to pick up my phone while I wait on something, or consider swapping to another game. I just have to do the next race, which is always already waiting for me.

If you love racing and haven't dusted of the FM series in a bit, you should check out FM7. It's 100GB but, that space on my SSD is being very well earned right now. What a fantastic - and huge - game!

    Little Disappointed about Series S

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 03:16 PM PST

I had a Xbox One X on my living room that I really like. But, because sometimes my daughter is around, I avoid play some games (like Gears 5) near her. So, I bought a Xbox Series S to use in my office.

When I bought the One X, was almost because that I want to increase the framerate in all games that is possible (I always choose "performance" mode that allows me to play at 60fps instead of 4k@30). So the "Series S" to my office was apparently the best choice.

The problem is: there are just so few games optimized to Series S. Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4 are both games that has "Series S optimized" and both runs gorgeous at 60fps.

But because there are so few games optimized for Series S, and also few new games nowadays for S|X makes Series S little bit shame. Series S just runs all Xbox One games with the "standard" version (same quality and framerate as Xbox One Fat/S).

I already knew that Series S would run this "standard" version of Xbox One games. But I just realized how is so bad because I bought at countdown sale Rise of Tomb Raider and Shadow of Tomb Raider. Both games (as hundred others) has graphics options for One X (4k@30fps or 1080p60fps) and at Series S I had to play these games at 1080p@30fps.

I really wish that some Xbox One games receive updates to increase framerates in Series S. The console has power to do it and many games already has these options at PC and One X. But sadly I have no hope that this will happen (for Xbox One games).

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 10:18 AM PST

I don't see it under the details of any game I look at or anything now. Pretty annoying to me.. I like knowing how big a game is before I go to download it.

Series X price dropping like a rock on Stock X website while PS5 remains same (and higher).

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 12:00 PM PST

So a week ago it was pulling about $730 or so for new series x on stock x auction website. Today last sale was $613! I guess There has been more supply in last week at normal retailers which has crashed the poachers on Xbox series x. Good!

Yet PS5 remains around $750. I am guessing more units series x have been around at retailers last week or so vs PS5?

Unto the End - Worth your time?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 09:58 PM PST

    Unto the End

    Genre: Action & Adventure

    Rated: Teen (Violence, Blood)

"Unto the End is a hand-crafted cinematic platformer about a desperate journey home. Master combat through improvisation and observation in intense sword fights. Spot opportunities to use artifacts and trade supplies. An adventure told through your actions, how will you make it home?"

Added to Game Pass on December 9th, 2020

    ----------------------------------

What it is: A minimalistic and challenging adventure game where you are forced to figure out your way past a variety of enemies – either through swordplay or trail-and-error wit.

What it isn't: A competitive game showcasing all the Kinect's capabilities where you take part in the boy scout's eight knot contest where your greatest struggle is often untying the one on the end.

TL;DR: Beautiful, but entirely too frustrating - 5/10

While Unto the End is a beautiful game from a visual and audio standpoint, no level of beauty can overshadow the tedious and clunky combat system that tries too hard to be different. If you could avoid every combat encounter in the game or even simplify combat the game would be great, albeit very short (3-4 hours), but instead you are forced to fight in multiple encounters where finally succeeding feels less like a joyful mastery of the combat experience and more of a "thank goodness that's over" due to a lucky string of blocks. The complete lack of guidance or tips with regard to items you receive causes their potential uses to be through trial-and-error luck instead of "creativity" as you show a troll everything in your inventory before you stumble upon the "correct" item. There is a difference between creatively guiding a player to use items in unforeseen or different ways and blindly hoping they will try something random in order to create alternate pathways. For a Game Pass game it may be worth your time for a relatively quick but frustrating 1000G and an aesthetically beautiful game, but i couldn't recommend this 2-4 hour experience at it's $25 USD price tag due to the frustrating gameplay that spoils its beauty.

    Achievement Difficulty: 4/10

While the game is able to be beat in under two hours if you understand the mechanics, you will likely need a guide to understand and complete two specific missable achievements: Show and tell as well as Explorer. Additionally, the final achievement, Mastery, can be extremely frustrating as the boss is able to one-shot you throughout the entire fight. Nonetheless, I was able to 100% the game in two playthroughs, using a guide for the second in approximately 5 ½ hours.

    Review

Unto the End hits its 2-D minimalist art style mark excellently – the game is beautiful. Wandering through pitch-black caves with only the flickering light of your torch to warn you of danger is nerve-wracking but intriguing. In comparison, putting your torch away and trudging through the snow is equally beautiful as the world you walk through and the backdrops are beautifully crafted. Often times your environment will warn you of something amiss, though admittedly the strewn out bodies peppered with arrows did not stop me from walking right into the same trap and getting my own souvenir arrow to the chest. The game's audio follows the same minimalist style as the visual, as most the time you will be hearing typical sounds of a cave or the rushing wind, your character's grunting and occasional simple melodies themed to accompany the gameplay.

The game's story is fairly nonexistent as you leave your wife and son to assumedly go hunting before your trip turns into a challenge to survive almost immediately. That's about all you get, and while you wander the game's world without any spoken words you can only assume you're trying to get back home. While maneuvering through the world you're never quite sure whether you're going the right way as you wander through dark caverns, but the feeling of being lost is something the game strives to cause as you question if you have, in fact, seen that same spirit mushroom five times. While the exploration piece of the game is simple and satisfying as jump you over deadly falls, dodge traps and solve extremely simple puzzles, the game's combat is unfortunately where Unto the End fails to match its aesthetic beauty.

As someone who loves challenging games, the combat mechanics of Unto the End seem difficult for the sake of difficulty, not for any sort of enjoyment or mastery factor. The game is by no means a hack-and-slash as you're given a "high" attack and a "low" attack along with matching block moves that form the foundation of the combat. There is really no way to play aggressively as most enemies will flawlessly block your attacks and instantly counter attack unless you manage to first block enough of their attacks, causing them to be briefly stunned. Even while stunned, however, an enemy is blocking one direction, forcing you to attack the opposite of their stunned block which is easier said than done as some enemy animations don't clearly show where they're blocking – leaving you to slash and hope for the best. Rinse and repeat the blocking game, throw in a couple attacks that you have to duck as well as a fairly useless dagger/spear and shoulder check that work once during combat if you're lucky and you have Unto the End's clunky and frustrating combat system. According to the game's tutorial there is also a feinting mechanic to bait a creature's block, but I was unable to successfully utilize it at all through my playthroughs as any attempt was met with a chain of attacks that usually killed me. All this is to say that combat is extremely tedious, and finally defeating an enemy feels less like a satisfying mastery of the combat encounter and more of a fortunate stroke of blocking luck accompanied by a "thankfully that's over with." The game gives you the option to avoid certain fights though no advice or tips on how to do so, meaning trail and error is therefore a key mechanic that is enabled due to the game's somewhat forgiving checkpoint system. You will be using these checkpoints often as you die repeatedly or, in many cases, succeed in combat but bleed out before you can get to a campfire. The game expects you to learn each enemy's attacking style and animations in order to predict where they're going to attack, but doing so through continuous deaths when you'll only see the majority of enemies once in the game makes it very unrewarding to spend the blood, sweat and tears necessary to "master" a sub-four hour game.

In summary, Unto the End is a beautiful 2-D adventure game that is marred by its combat system that feels difficult for the sake of difficulty and is completely unrewarding when you take into account the game runs, at an average pace, of 3-4 hours.

    Xbox App is useless now

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 09:49 PM PST

What's the point of the new update on the Xbox App? Can't see achievements or buy games anymore.

I'm just really pissed off at this, the app used to be an extension to the Xbox itself, checking updates on achievements and quickly putting in codes for games.

All for the "remote gaming" I guess.

Question on playing xbox at two separate houses with one account.

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 11:22 AM PST

Hello and thanks in advance for your help. I have an xbox gold account and I have it set up with my son on the family account. I recently upgraded to the new xbox so I decided to send his old xbox to his mothers house. Him and I have our own xboxes at my house on the same network no problems.

Is it possible for him to log on from his mothers house to play on my account? We tried to do it last night but it didn't work. I assume he needs his own gold account because its in a separate network.

LucidSound LS50x - Best settings for footsteps? (Xbox Series X)

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 09:26 AM PST

    Hello!

I picked up a pair of the LS50x and I love them! I've also subscribed for two years of Dolby Atmos. Are there any specific settings / EQ I should have enabled to maximize hearing footsteps? I play Fortnite, Battlfield and Call of Duty. Hearing where enemies are coming from is huge! Any help is appreciated :)
