    [GPGC]April GotM voting thread!

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 08:54 AM PDT

Hey guys, gals, Spartans, and Men in Black Suits,

What a crazy month this has been! There is a lot of scary stuff happening out there and from the GPGC team, we hope you are all doing well and staying as safe as possible! For all the essential workers still on the front lines, we want to thank you for everything you are doing! To those staying home and quarantining, thank you for doing your part in keeping the spread of COVID-19 down!

Now on to what a lot of you have been waiting for, Aprils GotM voting thread!!! Just so everyone is in the loop on how we are moving forward with the game selection process if you didn't know already. The top two games from last months voting move on to the next month to give them a second chance. For last month it was Ori and Outer Wilds so they are moving to this months vote. Now the next three are completely RNG'ed using an excel sheet we have with all current 288 games on Game Pass listed. Biiiig thanks to u/Trixxstrr for finding an excel list and keeping it updated! From there we used www.random.org to generate 3 numbers and then find the number associated with the game. Easy peasy. We also randomize the excel sheet as well so it isn't in alphabetical order, by newest last, etc. Its completely random!

We have heard quite a number of you request this "feature" for GPGC and we couldn't think of a better time to do a trial run so for this month we are choosing TWO games for selection! That's right! This month will feature two games so when voting, please only chose your top two selections! So now on to what you really really want, our GotM voting selection!

    This months games include:

    • Ori and the Blind Forest
    • Outer Wilds
    • Mortal Kombat X
    • Wargroove
    • Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams

    Vote here: Poll

Last month a number of you expressed concerns you didn't have enough time to vote or almost missed it. To eliminate that concern, we are going to run voting for 3 weeks now. This will help us immensely on the back end getting everything set up for next months games(wikis, discussion logs, posts, etc) as well as give everyone plenty of enough time to vote. How it will work is, the day we announce the GotM for the coming month, we will put up another poll for the following month that same day/post. When it comes time to announce the winner from that, we start the process over again and put up another 3 week voting thread. This way everyone has plenty of time to vote.

    Xbox One X Contest:

Now on to what you really really really want(Starting to sound like a Spice Girls song) to hear about! We are still running this contest so don't forget you still have time to enter to win a brand new Xbox One X! Head HERE to enter! We are going to choose a winner on the 31st when we announce our two games for April!

That is all for me! As always, sound off in the comments with suggestions, concerns, or random fun facts and see yall in a week when we announce our two new GotM for April and our Xbox One X winner!

I categorised all game pass games because of the quarantine

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 11:01 AM PDT

As the title says I put each game currently available on game pass into a few categories because microsoft apparently doesn't give a shit about categorizing games. Before I start with the categories I have to establish a few ground rules:

    • The decision for each category was made through a combination of reading the description, wikipedia page and watching gameplay videos. This means that I may have made a few mistakes, feel free to put any corrections in the comments.

    • The games have either no border, or a green or blue border. No border means that it is available on both pc abd xbox, a green border means that it is only available on xbox and a blue border means that it is only available on pc.

    • The categories and the games within them are arranged in alphabetical order. And with each category comes an explanation as to what that category entails.

    • Action-adventure is not a category because microsoft labels all fucking games as action-adventure

    Let's begin shall we?

    Arcade

Games that feature gameplay relating to arcade cabinets, these can either be games that were arcade games or play like one.

    Beat 'em up

In these games you beat up multiple enemies. Often with your fists, or a blunt weapon.

    Board or card game

Games that are just board or card games.

    Deckbuilding

Games where you use cards in one way or another, and by playing you expand your number of cards available. These games are not card games.

    Fighting

Games that are all about 1v1 fights.

    First-person shooter

Games where you shoot in a first-person perspective.

    Hack and slash

In these games you beat up multiple enemies using a edged base weapons.

    Horror

    Spooky games.

    JRPG

An RPG but made in japan.

    Local multiplayer

This includes games that have any form of local multiplayer/co-op in them, this doesn't mean the local multiplayer is fun or good.

    Metroidvania

Metroidvania often feature a large interconnected map where areas are unlocked by unlocking abilities or simple doors. They also feature combat.

    Online multiplayer

Games that have any form of online multiplayer/co-op.

    Open world

Games that feature a big open world which you can freely explore.

    Party

These Games are great to play at parties

    Pinball

Apparently needing its own genre, games that are based on pinball machines.

    Platformer

Gameplay focused on getting from one platform to another.

    Point and click

Games that have you controlling a character by clicking on a spot to walk there, pick up items or talk to npc's.

    Puzzle

Games that feature puzzle solving mechanics as one of the basic gameplay elements.

    Racing

Games where you race using a vehicle.

    Real time strategy

Strategy games where everything moves at the same time.

    Rhythm

I had to include this category because I don't know where else to put thumper. Games that are based on rhythm.

    Roguelite

Games that feature a gameplay loop with procedurallly generated areas and permanent death, but every run unlocks something of permanent progression, be it items or new abilities.

    RPG

Role-playing games where you can customise almost everything of your character.

    Sandbox

Games that feature a world that's partially or entirely destructible.

    Shoot 'em up

In these games you defeat multiple enemies using guns, but not from a first or third person perspective.

    Simulation

What games fall under simulator games is kinda weird so I don't know if everything that's here is correct. Typically games where you simulate a certain thing, be it being a goat or a truck driver.

    Sport

Any games based on a sport that aren't racing games.

    Stealth

Games that feature fleshed out stealth mechanics or where you have to be stealthy the entire game.

    Story driven

Story driven means there's a heavy focus on telling a story, that story has to be an interesting one, for example: games like de Blob don't move away from the main story, but don't have much of a story to tell. Story-driven is a compilation of games that you can play to experience a good story.

    Survival

The point of survival games is to survive as long as possible in the world you're thrown in.

    Third-person shooter

Games where you shoot in a third-person perspective.

    Turn based strategy

Strategy games where one thing moves at a time.

For people who have never played games before

Easy to control and understand games. For if your mom or dad has more free time and you want them to try gaming.

    Personal favorites

Games that I really enjoyed playing

Games that are a disgrace to human evolution so I don't put them on any list

These games are so disgustingly bad and a spit in the face of the fans of the franchises that I refuse to include them on the lists

And that's it, I hope this helps the burden of staying inside all day. Stay safe out there everyone <3

    Tl;dr: The entire list

    Bleeding edge performance

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 05:18 PM PDT

Hey, is anyone else really unsatisfied with the bleeding edge performance. At least on the standard s. Training is fine but in multiplayer matches the franerwte takes huge hits and becomes really annoying. I wonder whats up with recent releases and frame drops. Even ori and the will of wisps is super bad for me (and a lot of others as seen in this sub).

People who have the elite one or two controller. What was some mistakes or problems you had when you tried to get used to the controller?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 04:23 PM PDT

I've had my elite 2 controller now for a round a week. At the moment I have it set up so one of the peddles records and 1 takes a screenshot.

The issue I'm having is I keep forgetting they are are. So sometimes I will just randomly take a screenshot or record gameplay.

What mistakes or problems did you make when adjusting to the elite 1 or 2 controller.

Gamer pic changing to defult ones?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 07:58 PM PDT

I've been using a custom gamerpic for a while and decided to change it to a new one. However, after a few minutes of changing it, it randomly changes to one of the defult ones. Is there a issue with xbox live going on again or is this a issue that can be solved?

A Way Out is a must play game!

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 09:37 AM PDT

Quarantine has afforded most of us gamers with the opportunity to play titles in our backlog or games we maybe would have never given a chance under normal circumstances. I've played Call of Cthulu, Return of the Obra Dinn, The Outer Worlds. All games just sitting in my backlog. Then I decided to take a chance on A Way Out and holy crap, what a fantastic decision. This game is a narrative masterpiece. It lacks polish around the edges and isn't winning any awards for voice acting but the story carries this game from start to finish. I am going to be thinking about this game for days and weeks to come. Find someone who you are close with and play this game. There are pretty much no barriers to playing this game. It's only 5 to 6 hours and only one of you have to purchase the game.

Why is it not counting my time played?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 04:03 PM PDT

In the last couple of day's I have played at least 30 hours of modern warfare, yet it still says I only have 103 hours time played (I have had 103 hours time played on it for about 2 weeks now, and yes I am closing my games properly before I turn the system off).
