| Dreamscaper (now on Gamepass) is really really good, better than Hades in some ways Posted: 02 Feb 2022 10:21 PM PST Dreamscaper just hit XBox and I've been so excited to play it. I've enjoyed it for 60+ hours on my Switch but I really wanted to experience it with an Xbox controller and possibly improved graphics. And damn does it deliver. The worst part of the game is the beginning. Confusing opening cutscenes that is very quick but unnecessary. Then a pretty easy and fast tutorial. And then you play the actual game until you stop, basically. Thing is, you won't unlock all the awesome mechanics until you die a few times and open more area. Yeah, kind of like Hades. WAY more weapons and the best part is that once you use it once, you can either choose your starter weapons or go with random. Random is way more fun starting our, as you die you start over with different weapons and you can start learning what you like. And there are soooo many things to like. Countless melee weapons, ranged weapons, shields, special powers, ultimate power, keepsakes (passives), and even multiple dodge types. It's really easy to not think much of it in the first 10-20 minutes, it starts off feeling like a cool looking game. Not bad but not special. But then once you unlock more and more mechanics I feel like it really is a very special game. If you like Hades, Dead Cells, Children of Morta, Undermine, legend of Wizard, etc etc I HIGHLY recommend giving this a shot and going through 2 or 3 deaths before giving it your verdict . | Why couldn't we have gotten the much improved version of Hydrophobia? Posted: 02 Feb 2022 08:07 PM PST Just curious. They released a version called Prophecy that fixed a LOT of the issues. Improved visuals, gameplay, voice acting, and more. It has a much better ending because at that point they knew there wasn't going to be any sequels, so they redid the whole ending to give it a finality and rounded out the whole experience. The original version is inferior in nearly every way, so I'm surprised that's what they gave us this month... [link] [comments] |
