Star Wars Republic Commando is a solid shooter Posted: 29 Jun 2021 04:44 PM PDT I'm not very much into Star Wars but I'm having a blast with this game. Shame the split screen multiplayer is glitchy for the player 2 screen... [link] [comments]

First Impressions: NEW Zombies Ate My Neighbors Posted: 29 Jun 2021 02:58 PM PDT Zombies Ate My Neighbors has always been one of my favorite games of all time. So I looked to this new release with a little bit of trepidation, but also some excitement that it's back for newer systems. For those unfamiliar, the fast action game involves Zeke or Julie rescuing 10 survivors using various weapons against zombies, werewolves, Dracula, Mummy, Frankenstein, Jason from Friday the 13th, Chucky the doll, Jaws the shark, the Blob, giant spiders, Leatherface, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and much much more…. Each level requires you to rescue all the survivors before you can proceed to the next one. But be careful, because all of these creatures will kill the survivors if you don't reach them first. I bought the Nintendo Switch and Xbox one X versions to see if there were any differences. Somewhere along the way through advertising, I got lost thinking there was going to be a remastered set of graphics for the new release. However, that's not the case. The Switch version has the exact same graphics as the original. Still the same animations, and the gameplay remains the same. At first glance, there appear to be no changes from the original game. However, see below. The Xbox series X version changes things up a little bit. They added opening cut scenes for a fairly flimsy story to explain why all of these monsters are on the loose. Basically an evil Dr. Tongue is releasing these monsters upon the world. These scenes aren't included on the Switch version. Another addition are Xbox achievements. Some are quite easy to obtain, others a bit hard. Both games include a museum containing the original full manuals, character artwork, animations, and even a developer interview. It's a pretty decent interview covering the original concept and changes they had to make to suit Konami and make the game run on different platforms. The developer also explains why he thinks there is a lasting appeal to this decades old game. For both games, the controls work very well, and there is no delay in pressing buttons. You get the original music, original sounds, and original levels. One glaring omission from both versions is the opening Lucas arts/Konami splash screen along with the eerie ominous music. I think it really contributed much to the game atmosphere, and I'm very sorry it's not included. Because the developer was concerned most people never made it to the final level, there is now an option to save at any point and return to the game later. He also notes the original game had 20 levels which they worked very hard to complete. However, they were given additional development time and decided to use the time to add 30 extra levels. But he freely admits that you'll find some repetition of characters in settings after level 20. What I find interesting is that there are more levels advertised for these new games, so I'm not sure how they were created, or what they are. He also explains how co-op play affected the design of each level. Don't expect full screen play. Both versions have bars along the side in order to maintain the proper aspect ratio of the original. Aside from these changes, you could hold the original game right next to this one and it would look and play exactly the same. Personally I love the ports. They work very well, and it's great to be able to play the original without hunting down an expensive cartridge. You get both games here, including the sequel Ghoul Patrol for $14.99. I can't say much about that yet, because I am still playing through the first game. But it makes the price an incredible bargain!! If you are a fan of the original, or simply love horror movies, I would highly recommend this purchase. Even though there isn't much differe, it's a welcome joy to be able to play one of my favorite game on modern systems. [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Jun 2021 08:14 PM PDT I just got the Xbox game pass and I'm trying to download dead by daylight. The download gets to 38.2 mb and then stops and goes to 0 B/S. I've restarted and shut down my computer several times. I've tried downloading other games and they work yet DBD doesn't. Anyone know a fix to this? [link] [comments] |
