Did the update give anyone else a black screen?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 04:22 AM PDT

I was watching Disney+, I get the 'Xbox needs to update!' thing and I let it go. Now it boots up to a black screen. Only thing I can do is hold down the xbox button and shut it off.

I'm Martin, the developer of the game and will be happy to answer your questions until 22:00 CEST / 13:00 PT.

Update: Ok, I'm calling it a day now. Really enjoyed your questions the on-topic ones as muss as the off-topic ones. Feel free to go on commenting and asking stuff. We will likely drop by tomorrow morning Europe time and give some additional answers.

Here we are, finally releasing Imagine Earth for Xbox Series and One, after 7 years in Early Access with 70 updates - almost one per month. Building a global simulation game with two people takes a lot of time - who could have guessed that :-D

What is the game about, in one sentence?Imagine Earth is a strategy sim taking a critical look at capitalism and the conflict between economic growth and sustainability.

If you can't wrap your head around the idea that climate change is a man-made thing, you can probably turn your attention to other posts instead, otherwise I'd like to give you a tour into our global colony builder with a global environmental simulation system:

    https://preview.redd.it/4rs470vpr8a71.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54e49e4ae7ed0b758611951dbf94694de3976a44

Imagine Earth is all about colonizing planets - one at a time. It's settled in the near future, so many technologies are quite similar to what we have now. You are working for a company as a colony manager and mostly you start to take over a planet by dropping a landing capsule. Next you add districts for your people and take care of energy, food and goods. Harvest some resources to establish trade or use them to craft useful things like explosive devices to blow up rocks.

    https://preview.redd.it/8wsfdqrqr8a71.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3196a00c66e1b7af6ac6ef9f9541680ca2dcd6c5

And then? Other companies are colonizing the planet as-well. Territory has to be claimed, alliances are formed and you will likely wage economic warfare. Sooner than later you will reach the boundaries of what the planet can give and take. Emissions drive the global climate and you will warm your heart watching wild-fires, tornados and rising sea levels pull down what you just built. OR: You succeed in building a sustainable colony and find a way to convince the other companies to do the same…

Putting this into a list of features

    • Carbon footprint: Earth has been destroyed by ecological collapse - will your new home go the same way? Keep your worldwide emissions to a minimum, or else suffer rising sea levels, freak weather events, and more.
    • Boldly Go: Imagine Earth is a real-time planet simulation and a build up strategy game. Your job as a space colony manager is to explore distant planets, build up profitable colonies, and trade resources into space.
    • Many ways to play: A multi-planet story campaign, 'competition' mode with five enemy factions, 'endless' mode with endless procedurally generated challenges, and a Planet Editor with custom building and terraforming.
    • Hold the line: Use tower defence mechanics to protect your colony from invading aliens, marauding space pirates, and swarms of locusts.
    • Hostile takeover: Form alliances with other colonies and intergalactic traders, trade shares or wage crafty economic warfare to secure total financial dominance for your planet.

What is the difference to the PC version?

Really, there is none, besides the input device. The very first version of the game was built for PC and Xbox 360, so we always had consoles in our mind, while evolving the game over the years. Now we have put almost a year into a complete revisit of the UI to make Imagine Earth a great experience with the gamepad.

I used to play it a lot on my PC, but with the Xbox version finished I often find myself relaxing on my sofa while enjoying the beauty of my planets on the big screen. Hope you will enjoy it, too, but since gamepad input is a very tricky topic we are also eager to get your feedback!

    Thanks for reading :-)

    MS Wireless Headset question...

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 05:08 AM PDT

Morning, I'm loving my headset so far but wanted to ask, are any of you getting sound cutting out during some games, especially cutscenes? My main game giving me issues is Outriders, only during the cutscenes, game seems fine. Wondered if it the game or the headset, n if I'm the only one? Thx

Playing games remotely on PC ?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 07:07 PM PDT

Currently my Xbox is being used as the sole entertainment with gaming and streaming movie/tv, but I was wondering if I can play a game on the pc with the Xbox connected remotely but while it's being used for streaming. I swore I heard something like this working but I'm also thinking I'm imagining it. Or is it just one or the other?

Renew Subscription Error on Owned Games

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 05:35 PM PDT

Sometimes I play games I own like GTAV offline to save data usage on my wifi. If I don't connect to wifi before launching I get the error that shows when opening a gamepass game even though I own it. Is there a way around this? I figured it would be able to read the license instead of checking to see if my game pass is up to date.

Needing assistance picking game to play with my son

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 02:47 PM PDT

I have an 11 year-old and he's not a huge gamer and frankly, neither am I. We've got a Game Pass - can someone please recommend a great game/series we can play either together or against each other? We're not big into warfare games, which eliminates quite a bit (besides his age). Broad question, I know. But I've tried taking him to GameStop, Best Buy, etc. and we just can't find anything on our own. Thank you!

Apparently you can follow yourself- according to Xbox app...

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 04:14 PM PDT

Today I looked at my phone and saw an Xbox notification that said my gamertag is now following me.(censored for privacy reasons- it didn't literally say "my gamertag", lol)

Is this some kind of glitch with notifications like, did it mess up when trying to notify me of a new follower(had someone add me yesterday but they had a distinctly different gt.) Or maybe there is an account that has copied my gt? Whatever it was it didn't show up in my xbox notification on the console- only the message that popped up on the phone.

(Edit) I found a site called cooptimus that was great at searching out couch coop games (there's like,2) hopefully that helps someone else with the same problem
