    Video games are the one constant in my life that hasn’t changed or went away

    I explained this to my gf the other day because it's not always clear to people why I enjoy video games so much.

    At this point in my life, I'm 21 and have lost both parents by now. I'm not going to explain in great detail the struggles I've faced, but anyone who has lost a parent or two knows that it completely turns your life around and that you're done being a kid when they're gone no matter what age you were.

    I can't remember my childhood, as crazy as that sounds. Though sometimes, the only thing that brings back those childhood memories of mine is video games. I've always had an Xbox and before that a PS2. Games have always been my escape from stress and I still game best I can with the time I've got these days.

    Anyways, I guess I say all this to say, I could've easily turned into a bitter, hateful person because of the cards I got dealt in life, but I didn't. And that whole argument of, "Video games teach kids to be violent;" well, I would like to put that argument to rest, because I've witnessed (and experienced) with my own eyes true violence, evil, and manipulation from not just bad people but my family also. Take it from someone who has played GTA since the age of 3; video games have nothing to do with poor mental health or how likely someone is to commit violent acts. If anything, committing violent acts on virtual people saved me from hurting anyone who was real.

    FYI: Xbox One Offline Update Files (OSU1) Have Been Updated (4-20-2021)

    Just a quick FYI for anyone that had a previously bricked console due to a buggy update or because your changed out your HDD/SSD.... Microsoft has updated the Xbox One Offline System Update files for the April 2021 update. I can verify this because I tried to change my HDD to an SSD back in March 2021 and the process did not go well... I had to rely on the OSU files to try and recover and because I was a Beta Insider, my console was on a newer release than the public OSU files.

    Since Microsoft released the April 2021 Xbox One update just a few days ago, I downloaded from the USU1 link: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/console/system-update-solution/offline-system-update

    And indeed, my Xbox One X took the files without issue and I am finally back and operational.

    Download away, for all of you that were waiting for the next OSU1 public release!

    Okay so the fan in my power brick decided it wanted to die so I cut it off and I now have my brick open-faced with my desk fan blowing on it. I have a new brick arriving on Friday just wondering if this is safe to use like this until then. Thanks

    I am technologically inept. My guy loves playing xbox one with his friends. Specifically call duty. I want to buy him a really good headset for his bday. I think it's important to hear footsteps in this game and it must have a mic so they can talk. I need help making a good decision. I don't mind splurging cause he never buys himself new stuff and i think it's worth it cause he really loves playing almost every day.

    What headset do you have/wish you had for your xbox one and why is it superior?
