Why now is the time to get into the 360

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 10:37 AM PDT

I was heavily into OG XBOX modding and collecting, but one of the things that struck me coming into it fairly late, was that I had missed the boat on getting stuff even cheaper.

There is a sweet point in time where you get an amazing opportunity to pick up amazing games and special editions CHEAP AS HELL.

Now that 360 is in that weird place between relevant and retro, now is THE TIME to pick this shit up every chance you get. Get the special edition consoles, games, controllers, RGH modded consoles, it's all insanely cheap right now.

Once in a lifetime. When the games and special editions get expensive they ain't getting cheaper again. The all digital future and backwards compatibility is probably going to make these old games really sought after at some point.

Just my 2 cents from someone really enjoying the late stage/mature modding scene and amazingly cheap games.

    Xbox loud and hot

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 05:18 PM PDT

Hi everyone! I have a question,

I bought a new (used) Xbox 360 lately and I've been experiencing some troubles with it. Compared to my ps3, it gets very hot and loud. My whole desk vibrates when I'm playing the game and multiple games make the console shake like crazy. I've found a solution so that it's more quiet. Apparently you can download the game on your hdd and it makes it during gameplay a lot more quiet. But the Xbox itself still gets very hot, I don't know if it is a good idea to compare it with my ps3, but sadly I don't have another Xbox 360. Is there a way I can open it up and maybe put some new thermal paste in there? The Xbox itself is almost dust free. I keep it horizontal too.

PAL system in North America: Any Advice?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 07:42 PM PDT

So I've ordered a British Xbox 360 and it's coming in about 2 weeks. I've ordered it to play the PAL (French) version of Devil May Cry HD Collection. I've never owned a foreign system before so I'm curious if the subreddit has any valuable advice.

I have a North American power supply so I'm going to be hooking that up with the PAL system. I'm using an HDTV with an HDMI connection which from what I've read, should adapt the video from the system just fine. I've seen PAL systems have an option in their display settings to change the display rate from 50 to 60? When it arrives, should I be adjusting these display settings? I'm also assuming my Canadian Xbox Live gamertag should be downloadable to the system in order to earn achievements: can someone confirm this?

Any advice, tips or discussion would be greatly appreciated!

[WIP] List of all Xbox Live Indie Games (XBLIG)

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 07:34 AM PDT

I made a Google Sheet of every known Xbox Live Indie Game (XBLIG).

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Vp7YHrX_YEii87_gD7s3pIemmjUjIPd_y0dBcrDXihw/

I started off with this incomplete (abandoned?) list of ~2800 titles, and converted it to a Google Sheet:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox360/comments/9m8ejr/wip_list_of_all_xbox_360_indie_games_by_genre/

I think went through this video scrolling through all 3398 titles that were up as of 24th September 2017. I confirmed existing titles on the list, and added any missing.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyH2a5dxjLE

The result is 3420 titles total.

There's still work to do. Most of the Japanese titles need their titles entered/corrected, and I'm looking for archive.org links to the original Marketplace pages to extract more info.

Also, anyone know of a better place/way to share the list? I was thinking of adding to Wikipedia, but I don't want the list to just get deleted. 3040 titles would be too much to add to the main XBLIG article, so I was thinking of a list, possibly split among multiple pages, like the main Xbox 360 games lists.

What is the best way to wire a twin stick for Xbox 360?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 09:20 AM PDT

What is the best way to wire a twin stick for Xbox 360?

I bought this Dreamcast twin stick in a random lot of Japanese peripherals, but found out it had previously been (poorly) modified with an Xbox 360 wired pad. I've tidied it up, but as I don't have a 360 at the moment and never played any twin shooters either, I wondered if anyone here knew what the best layout would be for 360?

    At the moment I have:

    • Left stick - Xbox 360 D-Pad
    • Right stick - Xbox 360 ABXY
    • Left trigger - Xbox 360 LB
    • Right trigger - Xbox 360 RB
    • Left button - Xbox 360 L3
    • Right button - Xbox 360 R3
    • Start button - Xbox 360 Start
    • Pause button - Xbox 360 Back

Does this online store still work? It kinda seems outdated. Was gonna buy some 360 games on here but I thought they had a newer Xbox store. I'm guessing they have two different stores for the XB1 and 360 and i'm on the 360 store, but wanted to make sure i'm not wasting my money on something broken.

    Xbox 360 S Hard Drive

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 05:16 AM PDT

Hoping someone can advise me on this. I recently bought a 360 Slim from a local thrift shop. It was just the console for $21. After purchasing a power brick and controller I found out the console works perfectly. It is the 4gb version though and I would like to be able to play original Xbox games on it. I know I need an official hard drive. There are many on eBay but some of them don't even have the Xbox 360 logo on the front. And others that do, some are made in Thailand and some are made in China. Are official drives made in both Thailand and China?

    Thanks

A new game store opened up in my city and I decided to go and see what they had. The selection was amazing, and the store owner was a really nice guy. Was very happy with the pick ups, all nice additions to the collection.
