After following recent tutorials for many hours, I still cannot pair my wireless 360 controller to my PC via wireless-receiver. Looking for help.

    Posted: 06 Dec 2020 09:18 PM PST

For context, my video is a response to these tutorials:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcxHRcz7sfs

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFdajgerBMc

    Additional info I should mention:

    • I cannot seem to find a black wired Microsoft-brand 360 controller. In case this post does not work out please let me know if it one exists. Or, if it is not a Microsoft brand (but is still black), it MUST feel identical to a Microsoft 360 controller. I am cautious of off-brands but some do a very good job of imitation.

    • Different controllers work on my PC, but I am trying to make this one work. The 360 controller is one of my favorite controllers to use, and it being wireless is even better.

    • The AA Batteries are fresh.

    • All ID instances were replaced in the text file before install.

    • The controller came with a plug-and-charge Nyko battery pack, which initially I was testing out before switching to AA batteries, so perhaps plugging the cord into my computer (while it was connected to my controller) messed up some software in my controller, but I'm not sure if that is plausible. Windows recognizes the 'controller' via plug-and-charge, but my understanding is that really it's just detecting the charger, and is only sending electricity to the batteries, rather than any data.

    • Beyond what I show in the video, even after a fresh install (and a computer restart) I have tried many other times to sync where I first press the button on the receiver, then press/hold the sync button on the controller -- with extremely similar results to what you see in the video.

    • In the event that either my receiver or my controller is somehow defective, I am prepared to just move on. This has already taken nearly 12 hours of my attention and raised my stress considerably.

Thank you for taking a look.

Does this Controller work on 360? I'm getting mine fixed and while I look for games, I also need a good controller, and apparently the regular Duke doesn't work on 360. And if it doesn't work, are there any 360-compatible Duke controllers? TIA, -HyperAustinTheCool

    Xbox 360 Fans running fast

    Posted: 06 Dec 2020 04:23 PM PST

    Hello all,

Recently I've pulled my old Xbox 360 Slim out of storage. I plugged it in, powered it on, and it works! But after about five minutes, the fans ramped up to full speed, shut down, and the green light turned red.

So, I tore apart the console, found NO dust, and reapplied the thermal paste. I put everything back together, powered on the console, and it still works. But now, the fans still spin at full speed. There is NO heat coming from or on the console whatsoever. It's cold air coming from the fan.

I also factory reset the Xbox to see if that would help. It didn't.

What should I try next? I feel like I've tried everything.

Is it worth trying to sell a 1st gen Xbox 360 Core?

    Posted: 06 Dec 2020 02:39 PM PST

Back in the day, my original Xbox 360 died, so I bought a refurbished one to replace it at Gamestop. For whatever reason, the only ones that Gamestop shipped out was the Core model with no HDMI port. This wasn't an issue at the time, but my new TV doesn't support HD component cables, and I rarely play it at this point anyway so I'm thinking of selling it off. However, when I tried to bring it to a used game store I found out that pretty much no one is taking the original Xbox 360s due to the RROD issue.

So, considering it has no HDMI port and its an original Xbox 360, is it worth trying to sell it off? If so, what do you think it would be worth? Just for some detail, my original Xbox 360 (i.e. the one that died) was an Elite model, so it does have the 120 GB detachable hard drive.

Xbox 360E Red Power Light, But Working

    Posted: 06 Dec 2020 08:56 AM PST

I just picked up an Xbox 360E and it powers up and works perfectly fine, but the power light is lit red, not flashing. I tried the sync and eject buttons to see if there's an error code, and it doesn't do anything. The light comes on red immediately when plugged in and off. The light on the power adapter is green though. Any ideas?

Hello, my 360 controller I've had since 2005 finally died and I'd like to replace it. Can you still buy a new 360 controller? If not, what are some good imitations?

    HELP ME FIND THIS GAME

    Posted: 06 Dec 2020 12:59 AM PST

I need to get this game again but have no idea what its called and can't find it ANYWHERE. It's a 16-bit or 8-bit game, either an Xbox 360 arcade or an indie game. Set in a cave, the game itself is super cheap. Pretty sure its in a top-down type of view. It had local multiplayer and one thing I remember a lot is that you pushed blocks to clear your path. Its a square play area, like the game itself is in like this little square area and the UI is on the outer edges and the levels are really short and the game itself if fairly fast-paced. It's called "Micro Cave--" something I think. PLEASE HELP!
