Warning to users selecting "Transfer" for save files Posted: 08 Sep 2020 01:08 AM PDT Hi there, I've dabbled in the Xbox 360 since 08, own close to 500 games and finally retired my Elite for a 500gb E Model. This included transferring some Guitar Hero save files. Using the USB option because I don't have the data transfer cable, I selected Transfer on GH WT and GH WoR. The transfer had an error. Not to worry, I'll try again. Wrong. When selecting Transfer, at least on my end, the original copy is deleted and transferred. It failed, and corrupted my save files. About 100 hours lost. I tried the copy method on my usb and while it failed, the original file was saved. Always be sure to select COPY on each individual file. Turns out my usb reads and writes fine on my PC but cannot operate on my Xbox properly even after a format. Be safe out there! Don't learn the hard way, like I did! [link] [comments]

Question about Xbox 360 disc drive replacement Posted: 08 Sep 2020 06:21 PM PDT Hey! So I recently decided to flash my Xbox 360 Liteon 16D2S drive through Jungleflasher. I made my own probe and started flashing just to get the PCB completely fried. I recently got a 2005 revision Hitachi drive. If I RGH my console and get my DVD key from the Liteon, will I be able to spoof it onto the Hitachi drive? thank you in advance! [link] [comments]

Is it worth purchasing an XBox 360? Posted: 08 Sep 2020 12:59 PM PDT I initially purchased one when the console released but had it swapped out for a super slim PS3 when that released, which I had no say in. While I now want an XBox 360, I don't know if it is worth purchasing it because my PS3 is able to play PS1 & PS2 games, which includes many old games I have wanted to play. What are some exclusive games or series that I should look into? [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 Sep 2020 12:13 PM PDT This just started today. Any game I insert, it will read and boot up. As soon as it goes to load after selecting the hard drive as the storage option it will get stuck in on an infinite loading screen. When I try to install the games to the hard drive, to attempt to bypass this problem, at around 20%-35% the error comes up as the disk is unreadable and needs cleaned. The disks are spotless, so I'm assuming there's an issue with the lens. Any advice? I'm assuming my slim is starting to turn into an old man these days. update 1 took the 360 apart and cleaned it out toom the disk drive apart and leaned the lense. Still same issue update 2 After trying around 30ish different games, I finally got Lego Pirates to load and be playable. The 29 games prior to that will still hang at whatever initial load screen it has after the into credits. I'm so confused. update 3 Well after tinkering all night. Out of 100 games all are working properly except 2. Zoids assault and way of the samurai 3. WotS 3 looks really clean but looks like it has a dent in the data layer on the disk, assuming its trash. And Zoids is super clean and has no discernable flaw on the data layer, guess its just a bad disk. Ordered a sata to usb cable just to double check the hard drive. [link] [comments]

Question about keeping games on a used 360 Posted: 08 Sep 2020 01:12 AM PDT I bought a 360E at a pawn shop recently, and received a pleasant surprise of a few free games on the HDD (Halo, Gears, ResEvil, Rainbow6). The only problem is, there are like 6 accounts on this xbox and I want to clean up some clutter. I've read that I can delete the accounts and keep the games if they don't buy a new 360. Others say just delete profile but not profile+items. More others say the items are just achievements & saves not game licenses. What can I do here to keep the games and ditch scrolling through silly names to login to my profiles? [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Sep 2020 12:34 AM PDT http://imgur.com/gallery/ck9MyFt So I hooked up my elite today to sit down and play some Halo and after about ten minutes of doing basically nothing, sitting in the dashboard and letting my brother change the clothes on his avatar with the console sounding like it was trying to take off the whole time, it shut down and threw up a half-ring. I had to look that one up and see what it meant. Overheating. I thought back to about a year ago when I had a similar problem, where I decided cleaning the fin stacks would be a good idea as I hadn't done it in the four years I'd owned the console to that point, beginning in May 2015. One of the first things I bought for myself at the low-low price of $120. It got a little quieter, but didn't exactly solve the issue. So I decided to tear it down and apply fresh thermal paste. "Easy enough", I thought to myself. I'd taken it apart before, and I did a lot of tinkering with another 360 with a stuck DVD drive before (it RROD'ed a while back, RIP white 360) so this should be easy. And it was, until I had to take the X-Clamp off. It took me a second to figure that out and afterwards I had to get that old paste off of there. I fully believe that paste has been under those heatsinks since 2008. Seven years before I got the console, and over 12 years old now. It was like dried out chewed gum and as stubborn to remove as sticker residue. IPA to the rescue there, that was what took the longest. Getting the clamps back on was a pain but a nice bit of persuasion never hurt anyone, and the survival and new gentle whining sound of the 360 is a testament to that. Now I can enjoy my Reach in peace. [link] [comments] |
