There will also be Xbox support team members who will be helping moderate and provide solutions and can be recognized by their "Official Support" flair. We'll try to provide support right here in the thread but won't be able to respond to every single question. We might redirect you to Support.Xbox.com to contact one of our support teams or send you a private message if that's the best way to help. The Xbox Support team members won't respond to requests for help with third party products or situations that would violate the Terms of Use, Community Standards, or void a product warranty.

When posting a question, please include the following information

    • For console issues - your console type (One S, S All-Digital, One X, or original) and whether or not it is on an insider OS build.
    • For controller issues - whether the controller is standard first-party, Elite, Adaptive, or third-party.
    • For headset issues - the brand and model of the headset.
    • For game issues - if the game is disc-based, digitally owned, accessed via Game Pass, or accessed via Game Share with another user.

Here are some recommendations of games I really enjoy that are on the Ultimate Game Sale (tons of GamePass recs here too)

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 11:04 AM PDT

I'm just gonna scroll through the sale and do a brief write up for my favorite games. There are some of these that are likely on GamePass so you'd definitely want to play them on GamePass first. Let me know in the comments if you have questions on any of them.

Ace Combat 7: Really fun game if you want to feel like Tom Cruise in Top Gun and a solid entry into the iconic air combat series. Be warned that it is quite difficult as it goes on though. Not really any competition with this game in it's genre on Xbox.

Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection: There are a lot of Assassin's Creed games to choose from, but if you want to understand why people love this series this is the one to play. 3 games to play from of stealth action here.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey: This is the game to play if you want to understand the new more ARPG inspired combat style of Assassin's Creed. You might want to check out Origins/Valhalla if those settings are more interesting. Fair warning... I loved this game for about 40 hours and got turned off by the repetitiveness of the gameplay loop eventually, but it's still worth the price to experience it.

Batman Arkham Collection/Batman Arkham Knight: Might be the best superhero video game series ever. Amazing voice acting and realization of the Batman world. Fun gameplay with good variety as well. There is combat, exploration, detective stuff, and eventually even tank combat (perhaps too much it). I'd go with Arkham Collection first, but Arkham Knight still looks amazing and is a bit underrated as a conclusion to the series in my opinion.

Bioshock Collection: Probably some of the coolest video game worlds ever imagined while being very thought provoking as well. Compelling stories filled with twists and turns and some awesome environmental storytelling. A good introduction intro the Immersive Sim genre, although Infinite is really more of a shooter.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons: Lot of people probably haven't played this game. I remember picking up at the recommendation of the late Total Biscuit. Play it. Really memorable experience if you're into narrative games. Very emotional story as well. From the people who went on to make "A Way Out" as well.

Crash N-Sane Trilogy: These games are much harder than I remembered, but this is a beautiful remaster of a classic series.

Cyberpunk 2077: DONT BUY THIS GAME!!!!!

Dark Souls Remastered: I suck at these games, but if you want to see what the hype is about this is the one to play. Really cool setting and satisfying albeit punishing combat. For a lot of Soulsborne fans this is still the cream of the crop. Prepare to Die.

Dragon Age Inquisition: Not a perfect game, but quite a steal at 11.99. I'd recommend playing Origins first though. Lots of content here and a pretty approachable tactical RPG. Very good if you want that classic dark Fantasy world itch scratched.

Dragon Quest XI: This game doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's one of the best JRPGs one Xbox. Not the most challenging or original, but there is a level of craftsmanship to this game I appreciate. Reminds me of the good old days of when I had a PS2 and games were polished and had more of a sense of wonder to them.

Fallout 4: Again not a perfect game, but a really fun experience at the price if you still have yet to play it. Great exploration, pretty solid combat, and a satisfying gameplay loop overall. Solid value w/the Skyrim bundle at 23.99

Far Cry Bundle 3-5: I'm not a huge fan of the series, but at 22.50 you can't go too wrong. If you want a FPS with a bit more freedom and exploration this is a must play.

Forza Horizon 4: Definitely play this on GamePass if you haven't. Iconic Racing Series and one of the best Microsoft exclusives.

Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX: Classic PS1 era JRPGs. VII is obviously iconic, but don't sleep on IX either; it is many Final Fantasy fans favorite in the series. Pick up VIII if you really want the complete Final Fantasy experience on Xbox, but otherwise you can probably skip that one or come around to it later.

Final Fantasy X/X-2: Final Fantasy X is a candidate for favorite game ever. Really solid classic JRPG combat (last FF game to really have it) and an amazing story. Lots of emotional depth to the story and it tackles so many themes/topics well: religion, death, father and son relationships, even xenophobia! If you've never played a JRPG this would be my pick and it's a game everyone should experience. X-2 is still a let down to me, but the combat system is great and I just think of it as a bonus to an already amazing game in X.

Final Fantasy XII Zodiac Age: I wasn't crazy about this one when it first came out on the PS2, but it's reputation as improved over time. I'd definitely recommend X first, but this one has a ton of content and an interesting battle system that is more MMO inspired.

Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition: Very good value at 17.49, and probably the best way to experience the game given how much of the story the DLC fills in. Again not a perfect game, but very solid at the price. There are games in the series I definitely prefer, but I think this one still does a great job of capturing the spirit of a Final Fantasy game and it is not a bad entry into the series as a newcomer.

Gears of War Series: Again you might have to do some research into what one is best for you, and I think a lot of these are on GamePass. But I highly recommend the first three games. Iconic Xbox 360 series that really brought the cover shooter into prominence.

Grand Theft Auto V: If you still somehow haven't played this do yourself the favor. I don't really mess with online but the story and setting of GTA V is already pretty iconic. I've played all the main games since GTA 3 on the PS2 and this one is right there with the best of them. Rockstar is peerless when it comes to the sandbox genre after all these years.

Halo Master Chief Collection: Definitely pick this up on GamePass. Iconic series. No FPS's quite like it. If you own an Xbox and haven't played Halo that is weird.

Halo 5: Campaign is kind of meh, but an improvement over 343's Halo 4 in my opinion gameplay wise. Storywise it's probably the most forgettable in a Halo game. That being said I love love love the multiplayer in this one. Some people prefer the old school movements of of the classic games, but I think this one brings it into a new faster era pretty well. Definitely play this on GamePass though...

Hitman 1-3: You'll have to do some research it what game has the best value for you. If there is a bundle that includes all of them at a decent price I would highly recommend it. Some of the coolest levels ever designed. You can explore each one for hours and there are no stealth games quite like the Hitman ones. There is also a bundle of the 360 titles. Blood Money is an absolute classic, but I don't really care for Absolution at all.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix: Of course Kingdom Hearts would make buying their game confusing as well. This series is not for everyone, but it's definitely a must play if you like SquareEnix games or have an interest in Disney. Amazing Soundtrack as well. This one comes with Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 and some ports of other games in the series. Really good value and you can check out Kingdom Hearts 3 later if you enjoy them.

Lego Games: These are great if you want to feel like a kid again or just want to have fun. I liked the Marvel Superheroes one but there are a lot to choose from.

Mad Max: This has become something of a must play overtime in my opinion. Story isn't amazing, but it definitely feels like Mad Max. Really cool vehicle combat, fun Batman Arkham inspired fist fighting, and a fun explorative gameplay loop. Definitely turns into a checking off places on the map kind of game after a while, but this is a great podcast game in my opinion where you roam around while listening to something else. I mean that in the nicest way possible. Definitely checkout if you're into sandbox games.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition: Disclaimer with this one, I haven't played through the entire trilogy of the Legendary Edition. But longtime fans seem pretty pleased with the Legendary Edition and it brings some much needed refining to ME1, which is an amazing game, but is a bit rougher gameplay wise compared to 2 & 3. If you haven't played this series at all this is a must play. Probably my favorite video game universe, one of the best Action RPGs ever, and some of the best characters and storytelling in gaming.

Metal Gear Solid V: Do yourself a favor and try to play MSG 1-4 first if you can, but MSGV is still a treat regardless. Longtime fans have problems with the story, but if you're a fan of stealth games this is a must play. And if you haven't experienced a Hideo Kojima game do yourself a favor and play the first hour.

Shadow of Mordor: Another fun sandbox game, this one has some stealth elements mixed in as well with a bit of Assassin's Creed/Batman Arkham style gameplay in there. Nemesis System is definitely the coolest part of this game, and is one of the more original things to come out of this console generation on a technical level. Not a huge fan of this series but at $5 bucks it's hard to go wrong, checkout Shadow of War after this you enjoy it.

Metro Series: Full Disclosure... this is the one series I haven't played yet but I've heard nothing but good things about it! And I feel like I might be doing a disservice by not mentioning it.

Monster Hunter World: Another game I suck at, but it's definitely a one of a kind series with a legion of fans (especially in Japan). Just be prepared to use YouTube/reddit to figure some of the mechanics as you're going along.

Onimusha: Warlords: Classic from the PS2 era remastered. Basically Resident Evil in Feudal Japan. Play it if you like the classic RE games.

Ori Collection: I sat on this game way to long. Play it now if you haven't. Amazing gameplay, story, and stunning visuals. I liked Blind Forest, but loved Will of the Wisps. Really refined the first game wonderfully while adding fun combat. Will of the Wisps is up there with Hollow Knight as my favorite Metroidvania (also play Hollow Knight if you haven't!) Amazing music as well. This is a must play Xbox exclusive series and it's on Game Pass.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy: Nothing quite like this one. You gather evidence and argue it court. Must play if you like detective style games like LA Noire or Japanese games in general. Very unique.

Red Dead Redemption 2: If you somehow haven't played this do it. Amazing visuals and one of the best stories in gaming. Yes the Rockstar game design style might be a bit outdated for some, but they're still masters at crafting a compelling world. I would recommend playing RDR1 first because it is also amazing and ties into this game wonderfully.

Resident Evil Series: There are a ton here to choose from. RE1 remake is very solid classic RE experience. RE4 is the best of the RE Action games. REVII is a great reimagining of the serious in a first person perspective. And the RE2 Remake is probably the best at merging the classic gameplay into a more contemporary style. If you're not sure where to start I'd probably go with RE2 Remake myself, but RE4 is my personal favorite.

Saints Row 3 Remastered: I'd play Saints Row 2 first if you can, but if you've never experienced the Saints Row series check this out. Harkens back to the days when sand box games took themselves a bit less seriously, and no series took themselves less seriously than Saints Row.

Saints Row 4: If you really like the series play this one too. A lot of people thought this one went too overboard, but I probably liked it about as much as 3.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice: I suck at this game, but the gameplay is so satisfying. I had some frame rate issues though so I'd recommend playing it on the One X if you can. Again be prepared to die.

Skyrim: If you still somehow haven't played this one do it. I have more nostalgia for Oblivion, but a must play if you have yet to experience a Bethesda RPG or want to ease your way into RPGs.

South Park Stick of Truth/Fractured But Whole: Must play if you like the South Park series or are just looking for a fun game. Really fun to explore the town and characters in both games. I prefer the combat in Fractured But Whole myself, and while they combat systems aren't deep they don't wear out the welcome in the game's playtime either.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy: Really fun 3D platformer that still holds up today. Remaster looks great as well. 3 games in 1.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order: I loved this game. When of the best Star Wars titles in a long while. Solid story and a really cool merging of Dark Souls style combat and exploration albeit a lot easier. I would say the framerate can be pretty crap on base xbox though. Not quite a dealbreaker, but might want to hold off if that really bugs you.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic: Classic Bioware game, maybe the best Star Wars game ever. Must play if you love Mass Effect or Star Wars. Great storytelling and characters.

Subnautica: I haven't played this a ton, but it is an undeniably successful survival game. Kind of struck like Minecraft underwater. I've heard this one can get really scary too. Play it on Gamepass.

Sunset Overdrive: I had some problems with this game, but it's really popular on this forum. And it's one of the most unique sandbox games around. Really interesting traversal system here. From the people who went on to make Spiderman.

Titanfall 2: I preferred Titanfall 1's multiplayer, but definitely checkout Titanfall 2's campaign. FPS with Mech Combat what else is there to say?

Watch Dogs 1-2: Really good price with this bundle. I liked Watch Dogs 1, but I really liked Watch Dogs 2. I hated Legion though...1 has more of an emphasis on combat where 2 has more of an emphasis on stealth and gadgets. Both settings are great but San Francisco takes the cake for me. I also really enjoyed 2's story a lot more than 1 and it has a lot to say about the tech age we live in. Yes it can be a bit cringe, but it's also pretty endearing.

Witcher 3 GOTY Edition: Insane Value at 9.99. Might be my favorite game ever. You also get the the two amazing expansions with this is as well. Well over 100 hours of video game to play here. Amazing story, characters, and probably the best side quests I've ever played.

Wolfenstein 2: Brutal and dark FPS set in a world where the Nazi's won World War 2. Can get a little bit weird at times and I found myself thinking it took itself a bit too seriously, but it's a really unique FPS game with stealth elements as well. Definitely checkout Wolfenstein: The New Order first though if you can.

XCOM 2: Really cool tactical game, I suck at the base management part and the tactical shooting parts, but it plays really well on a controller surprisingly. If you want to feel like an armchair general play this, but be prepared to lose some good soldiers along the way.

Yakuza Series: Iconic Japanese series. Definitely Checkout Yakuza 0 on GamePass first if you want to try it out. Big emphasis on storytelling, brawler style combat, and exploring a smaller but very detailed sandbox. Lots of fun sidequests and mini games too.

    Different download speeds

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 07:55 PM PDT

When I download games on to my Xbox digitally my download speed is around 40-50 Mbps when I'm on the home screen but if I go into the manage queue section it increases 300+ Mbps. I'm not complaining I just am curious as to why that is.

    What still works with kinect?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2021 06:09 PM PDT

So the other day I got a Kinect 2.0 for $10, mainly cause I like game collecting, but I still want to use it.

So, using voice commands I can: turn on and off my Xbox, sign in with my face (even though it seems to detect clothes and not faces), open up games or apps, and pause/play/rewind media.

According to many websites there is a lot more you can do with it, however, I know that the Kinect got neutered years ago and that its functionality today pails in comparison to what it was, but I cannot find a website with current info.

I know some of the removed stuff includes hand gestures, snapping and cortana, but it would be nice to have a full list of removed features, or ideally, currently supported features.
