Just got doom eternal excited to play it

This is the personal “to be played” lists of each family member in the house. This is why Game Pass is killing it.

Anyone else keep checking their preorder every few days to make sure it's not cancelled, or just me? *stares at Best Buy*

Anyone else hope video games in the upcoming generation start putting more focus on detail in them?

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 10:54 AM PDT

I've been playing video games since the late 1990s, and while I am enjoying the graphical progress games have made in the decades since, I am by no means a graphics-whore. But I have this feeling that games, even from AAA developers seem to severely lack in "detail" in their games.

While these details are just "fluff" that wouldn't make or break a game, I feel like older games did details better and are much more immersive in that regards.

Let's take for example, shooter video games (both first and third-person shooters). We are entering the 2020s, and yet, small details like bullet casings are still more or less sprites that disappear when they hit the ground rather than being 3D models that physically lay on the ground.

Fires being set don't spread and burn flammable objects, or if they do, instead of realistic destruction, the object just swaps to a burnt texture.

Rarely are there any major physics employed outside of being able to move objects/debris by shooting them or exploding. Sure, games like Battlefield are well-known for environmental destruction, and in general a lot of games are starting to employ some destructible objects/scenery, but that should be an industry standard across shooters and even hack and slash games (imagine using a battle axe to cut a rope to drop an object on an approaching enemy.)

I feel like there is too much scripted sequences/scenarios in certain games that restrict player freedom to tackle an objective how they want. Take Red Dead Redemption II for example, you could try to be stealthy in a mission by trying to take an alternate path, only to fail because you "left mission area".

AI I feel needs to start getting some major boosts in video games because I have yet to see a video game that gets lauded for its AI, outside Alien: Isolation.

    TL:DR:

I've been enjoying the video games I have been playing over the years on the OG Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, and across other systems as well, and video games are looking better than ever. But I'd like to see developers put the extra details into their games too if only to be more immersive.

Xbox Series S Shipping a week early?

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 08:49 AM PDT

So I got really lucky and nabbed a pre-order of a Series S this morning from the Microsoft site and it says estimated delivery 10/2/2020. That's in 2 days. This has to be an error right? Anyone else see this?

Game Pre-order question for the Series S

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 09:16 AM PDT

I just pre-ordered Star Wars: Squadrons on the Microsoft Store because I want the pre-order content, but I don't yet have my Series S. The game comes out Friday and the Series S releases in November, obviously. Does the store care what version I bought? It didn't give me an option for PC or Xbox, just a little drop down for where you want to install it (which showed my old Xbox One S).

Is there anything I should be concerned about, or will I easily be able to download it onto to my Xbox in a month or so?

Can anyone recommend headphones w/ mic for someone who is hearing impaired?

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 01:45 PM PDT

My friend is 70% deaf in one ear. He has been looking for a headset w/ mic that allows individual volume control — if he cranks up the volume for his "bad" ear then it's entirely too loud for his "good" ear. I have found headphones that do this, but none have a mic. If anyone has any recommendations/can point me in the right direction I'd be super grateful!

    Xbox remote disconnect

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 01:42 PM PDT

My xbox remote keeps disconnecting at random moments. Its not a sync issue. And I've tested both real batteries and battery packs and it continues. I had it fixed and I mentioned the issue to the repairman. We tested the distance it would hold a connection and for his console it was fine but when I'm at home I'm less than 6ft away from my console and its happens still. Any ideas?

    Sell X1X

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 01:00 PM PDT

Ok so im gonna sell my year old Xbox One x for 250$ and buy XSS for 350$ (299$ + 50$ Tax in my country) is it good deal? I have 1080p Samsung TV, and im so bored in mostly 30fps on every game on X1X, so i want to buy XSS with nice smooth 60fps gaming. I think after the release of the next generation of Xbox, Will X1X cost about $200 (new) to sell last few units in e-shops. So thats why im gonna sell my X1X for bigger price, than after realese for few bucks. And I also thought that people would start selling their X1X consoles for a few dollars so they could buy the next gen, and I wouldn't sell my console for that much money anymore. Is it Smart move? I forgot to mention, that here in my country there are still at least 30 stores trying to sell the last pieces of x1x.
