Xbox One - I’m not even that frustrated about the PS exclusives for The Avengers at this point. I’m frustrated because people are continually defending exclusivity, then making it seem like Xbox players are in the wrong for being upset.

EDIT: WOW, looks like most of you all are in agreement with me! I've decided that I'm simply not going to buy the game, but rather buy some older games and play those for a while. GameStop is having a B2G2 sale right now, so I'm getting all the Guitar Heroes and Rock Bands and I'm going to beat those on 360. I'm currently looking for some instruments, which I'm looking forward to. Just vote with your wallet everyone. Have a nice day ❤️

When the announcement first came out yesterday, of course I was naturally upset as many of us are.

Spider-Man is without a doubt one of the most popular superheroes of all time, especially with the success of his movies in the MCU. So of course fans of the character are going to be upset that they can't play as him given that the game is on all consoles.

It's incredibly frustrating as I just want exclusivities gone for good across ALL consoles. They can add cosmetics and what have you, that doesn't bother me. But locking entire characters and missions behind one console is absolutely absurd for any game.

But the thing that's pissing me off the most is seeing people defending this crap, then making it seem like Xbox players are somehow in the wrong.

I don't care who owns what or who did what, exclusivities are trash at the end of the day.

Sony has their own original exclusive games, which is absolutely fine with me. Microsoft also has their own original exclusive games, which is absolutely fine with me.

But when you're taking well known IP and making it exclusive to one console when we're all playing the same damn game? No, that's not cool in the slightest.

That's like making Green Arrow an Xbox exclusive for Injustice. Or making Black Canary an Xbox exclusive for the next Batman game. That doesn't sound fair at all does it?

Once you start making well known characters exclusive to one console, it shouldn't matter who owns the god damn characters at that point. The point is, one console is getting more for the same price. Not only that, but they're getting a very popular superhero at that.

Xbox players have every right to be upset, and I'm so sick of people playing this petty ass game where they brag or make excuses for this crap.

PlayStation players back in the day had to wait for DLC and didn't get access to a few skins, that's literally it. Other than a few one offs, it was never anything massive.

Xbox players are having entire sections of freaking games locked off when we're all playing the same game. There have been about 3 AAA games in the past few years that have locked off an entire section of a game just so it can be exclusive to PlayStation. It's ridiculous, and I'm tired of people saying we're all acting entitled.

What happened on last gen is nothing in comparison to what's going on right now, and it's so mind blowing that people are trying to compare these two exclusivity deals to each other.

Get rid of cross platform game exclusivities, period. If they wanna get exclusive skins or an exclusive soundtrack or whatever the hell, that's cool with me. But when it starts getting down to ACTUAL GAMEPLAY, let all consoles experience the same thing.

Sony should've made Spider-Man available for all consoles, and made a skin pack exclusive to PlayStation players. They should've put all the movie costumes in a skin pack, and made it exclusive. That would've been cool, and fair.

And what's even more funny? Venom 2 was supposed to come out this year, so imagine what Sony had up their sleeves to promote the movie.

If Microsoft came out and said Captain Marvel would be an Xbox exclusive, or Red Hulk or some shit, I bet this conversation would be completely different in the PlayStation community. But no one is willing to put themselves into each other's footsteps anymore. All people do is brag and make excuses.

    I'm done for the year.

xCloud - Apple’s App Store Rules Limit Rival Gaming Services While Arcade Runs Free

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 07:14 AM PDT

For those wondering why Xbox Game Pass streaming won't be coming to iOS this September.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-25/google-stadia-nvidia-geforce-microsoft-xcloud-not-on-apple-ios

Apple outlines this in an App Store rule that says "games offered in a game subscription must be owned or exclusively licensed by the developer." For example, Microsoft's iOS service can offer Halo because Microsoft produces that game, but not Ace Combat from Bandai Namco.

The same rule that bars non-exclusive titles requires that "each game must be downloaded directly from the App Store." This means an app can't include a catalog of games and must be broken up into separate apps.

Apple's rules state that "thin clients for cloud-based apps are not appropriate for the App Store."

When you put it in a list the pro-consumer things Xbox have done for us is just incredible.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 07:18 PM PDT

DISCLAIMER - NONE of the items on this list are to say Sony is not doing the same or meant to shame any competitor in any way. This is meerely the best list I could come up with of all the "pro-consumer" initiatives that Microsoft have done after the disaster launch of the Xbox One system.

    DEVICES

    1. Xbox One S All Digital Edition - provided an all digital console to people who wanted an all digital library.
    2. Xbox Adaptive Controller to bring games to folks with disabilities.
    3. Xbox Elite Controller - Spent the time and resources to develop a premium controller for enthusiasts that wanted an official controller with the features of controllers like SCUFF.
    4. Kinect Adapter - Even though they very obviously abandoned ship on Kinect they developed and provided an adapter to folks buying the XOS system so they could continue to use their Kinect.
    5. External USB 3.0 HDD support - rather than selling consoles with larger hard drives they allowed consumers to use external HDD's to store their games one.
    6. Xbox One controllers will work on Xbox Series X for all games.

    GAMES

    1. Backwards Compatibility of both Xbox 360 games as well as original Xbox games. They also offer this for free if you own the games. Not only are they bringing games into the future they are often times doing all the development work, even on 3rd party games, to get them to run better than they ever have.
    2. Full BC Support for all Xbox One games.
    3. Minecraft - To this day you can still play the full up to date version of Minecraft on every competing device and system even though they bought the property in September of 2014.
    4. Halo - Bringing one of the most prominent console IP's to PC after folks begging for it for years. Then continuing to add content to it.
    5. Minecraft Dungeons - Game is available on Switch, Xbox, PC via Steam and Windows Store.
    6. Cuphead - Microsoft asked studio behind Cuphead to bring the game to Nintendo Switch.
    7. Ori and the Blind Forest - Brought the game to both Steam and Nintendo Switch.
    8. All future games coming to both Xbox and PC.
    9. BC Games
    10. Have allowed all studios they've purchased to release their games on rival hardware.

    SERVICES

    1. Smart Delivery - Creating a system that allows games to be purchased one time and removing any question for the consumer as to which version they need for their system.
    2. Xbox puts developers on notice that they are not to charge gamers for next-gen upgrades. But leaves the door open for dual entitlement schemes like EA prefer to go with.
    3. Xbox Game Pass - Not much to be said here besides the insane value of Game Pass.
    4. [RUMOR] Eliminating Xbox Live Gold making online play free moving forward.
    5. Cross Play - Microsoft have been one of a few entities strongly pushing for cross play between systems in and effort to bring gamers together. They've been open to cross play on any platform, including Playstation.
    6. Play Anywhere - You can now play most Xbox games on your console then jump to PC and play the same save file.
    7. Xcloud - They're now bundling the service at no additional cost into Game Pass which effectively puts the barrier to entry for their games at $15 if you want to play games on an Android device or on your PC (eventually).
    8. Digital Game Refunds - You can get a refund on any game you have played less then 2 hours and have owned less than 2 weeks.

    TECHNOLOGIES

    1. Automatic Low Latency Mode - Few people realize it, but the Xbox One X and Xbox One X both have ALLM today. It is a feature that will be utilized much more in next generation, but they added it to the XOS, XOX in 2019.
    2. Variable Refresh Rate - the same case as with ALLM, they also added VRR. Something that very few monitors and even fewer TV's support, but they quietly added the feature for TV's that support freesync.

Big thank you to Xbox and looking forward to the future!

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 06:35 PM PDT

I know this post will probably get lost and that's okay, I just wanted to do a shout out and express my thoughts.

Small back story I've been a PlayStation fan pretty much all my life but have dabbled with Xbox only a little (very first Xbox). I was going into next gen with of course ps5 in mind, but I have changed my mind.

Not because I can't afford both really but because of Microsoft constant effort to make Xbox the best consumer friendly platform.

I absolutely love what yal are doing truly with gamepass, and allowing older controllers to work and all the super consumer friendly stuff yal are doing. I mean some of the recent stuff Sony is doing is scummy in my eyes.

Now my fellow PlayStation gamers are saying " oh they are just doing it because they are loosing" "Xbox is pretty much dead" but I disagree. I believe Microsoft future lies in not the console but the service and I like that idea.

On top of that I haven't seen honesty one pro consumer thing Sony has done for me in quite a few years. Psnow is crap, and the few exclusives I actually like and play are very very few. Even some of my favorite franchises have changed to my dislike aka the new god of war.

I really didn't know how bad I was getting screwd over per say, as I said before I can afford both but honestly I'm tired of giving Sony my money at this point and I truly don't wanna be in there eco system anymore. Im willing to give up my account which has well over 15k in digital games alone.

I hope Xbox continues to surprise me and I can't wait to dive in and explore what I've missed for all these years on this platform.

I will say that even though I'll have gamepass I'll still buy certain 1st party games just to show my support.

Thanks again everyone over at Xbox and it's studios and I can't wait to see all you xboxers in game :)

TLDR: Got tired of Sony's anti-consumer ways and decided that instead of ps5 I'll be getting into the Xbox eco system.

Microsoft removes the term "Xbox Live" from its services agreement, now "Xbox online services".

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:38 PM PDT

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/servicesagreement/upcoming-updates.aspx

    Text:

    1. In the Xbox section and throughout the Terms, we've updated the Xbox heading, changed Xbox Live to refer to Xbox online service, and refer to Xbox consoles, rather than Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. We've updated "Xbox Services" to include the Xbox online service, Xbox Game Studios games (including Mojang Games), applications, subscriptions, services and content provided by Microsoft. We've also clarified what Microsoft can do if you sign in to your Xbox Services account to access a non-Microsoft Service (for example, a non-Microsoft game publisher of Third-Party Apps and Services).

This is the Microsoft services agreement, so it's covering all of Microsoft. It's big news, Xbox Live is seemingly going away for good and becoming "Xbox online services".
