What are the best XBONE games that never made it to PC?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2022 02:05 AM PST

I managed to Snag a series X and there aren't really Series X exclusives because all of those are on PC but I am looking at the XBONE back catalogue. So far the only big ones that jump out are Halo 5 and Rare Replay, along with some of the Game Show games like Jeopardy and Family Feud. What else is worth digging into?

Xbox Series X Controller - Issue out of box

    Posted: 17 Feb 2022 01:26 AM PST

Hi, I recently got an Xbox Series X controller. It arrived dusty(fibers from the packaging I assume) in its box but I brushed it off, within 5 minutes of testing I noticed A button not registering every ~30 or so presses. Did a test here while pressing faster and indeed it looks like something's off. There might be even more issues with Y/B similarly, only found out about A button because the game I play requires A for continue/skip etc. so a lot of pressing. So what to do in my situation.

Video example of my issue but definitely not as drastic as shown there. Really disappointed considering the price tag on these new controllers. Returning policy here I have to pay it due to how hard it is for me to prove the issue with it.

    all controllers randomly disconnect

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 10:44 PM PST

i have an xbox one s and for some reason any controller i connect to it will disconnect within 10-20 mins of playtime. i know it's not a battery issue because i put in new batteries into miltiple controllers and they all disconnect. i think it's an issue with the xbox itself, not the controllers. anyone know how to fix this?

    Question about pre orders

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 09:25 PM PST

I pre ordered destiny 2 witch queen dlc back in Christmas with a gift card and a few dollars from a credit card, and i immediately got the ability to download the pre order bonus, the small download for the dlc and the 30th anniversary dlc it was bought with.

Then a few days later i notcied there was money in my microsoft balance, so i assumed my father might have logged into my account and put a gift card on it (my parents are divorced dont live near him at all).

Recently i checked the email to my account and microsoft says they cant complete the order, which was a complete suprise since i thought it always charged immediately.

If the downloads didnt go through I'd understand how its not gonna go through, but since I got the bonus and was able to download, I wanna know what is gonna happen

For anyone wondering if an SSD upgrade is worth it, I can definitively say, FUCK YES!! [info in comments]

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 07:44 PM PST

Ok so I bought an OG xbone in around 2015, after the 360 it seemed like the most amazing technology, but these days in 2022 it's starting to feel a bit dated. I upgraded to an external HDD a while back, and that was definitely a huge improvement over the pathetic internal HDD, but then i kept reading all this debate back and forth over whether an SSD would be an improvement over that. today decided to just take the plunge and go for it, and ho leeee shit what a hell of an upgrade! [note: i didn't research the S or X, so this may or may not apply to them. but if you have an OG xbone, it absolutely will]

for anyone on the bench about it, or confused, let me break it down, because it took a bit of research to figure this all out:

basically, the xbone comes stock with a internal 5400RPM HDD running over SATA II. you have the option to upgrade by 1) replacing the internal hard drive, or 2) adding an external hard drive via the USB 3.0 ports

now here's where it gets a bit tricky, and i think a lot of confusion lies. it's a bit counterintuitive, but USB 3.0 actually has higher transfer rates than SATA II- meaning, if you had an infinitely fast hard drive, you would actually see BETTER performance by plugging it externally into the USB port, instead of swapping it out for the internal one. it seems weird, since usually in our experience, components connected directly to the motherboard are faster than peripherals that we plug in. but, that's the case here

now the second issue, is SSD vs HDD. i think by now most people know the difference, but essentially, they are both hard drives, the HDD uses mechanical spinning platters, and the SSD is more similar to RAM, where there's no moving parts at all. the takeaway though, is that in general, SSD's fucking blow HDD's out of the water when it comes to speed, there's absolutely no comparison, it's like a Ferrari vs a clapped out honda.

so this gives us a tier of how fast different combinations will be:

    from slowest to fastest-

    1) original internal HDD

    2) external HDD

    3) internal SSD

    4) external SSD

while I haven't tried running the SSD internally, SATA II simply isn't doesn't have as high maximum throughput as USB 3.0, so with the same drive, it will always be a bit slower. exactly how much of a difference it makes, i don't know for sure, if i ever try it i will be sure to update on here

but, with GTA5 on the internal HDD, i remember load times were easily longer than 3 minutes (it's been years since i timed it), i think maybe even as long as 5 minutes, it was absolutely ridiculous. the external HDD was a HUGE improvement, took times down to 2 minutes. now with this new external SSD, i just fired GTA5 up, and it loaded in 1:23 seconds! absolutely phenomenal performance. i'm sure it's nothing compared to the new series x, but for a $49 SSD instead of a $600 console, i can live with it for now!

anyway, just wanted to put this out there, in case there's anyone else out there in the same boat, wondering if it's worth it to upgrade, and trying to understand better how it all works when it comes to upgrading storage on the xb1!

Is there any setting to prevent the Xbox from AUTO-CLOSING/DISCONNECTING a game when in another app?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 11:02 PM PST

I use edge browser daily in conjunction with a game I play. But if I'm in the browser too long it boots me out of the game. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

    Thanks
