Xbox One - Xbox Series X/S Pre-Order Megathread

    Xbox Series X/S Pre-Order Megathread

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:14 PM PDT

    Hey r/xboxone,

It's been a crazy 48 hours since the Xbox Series X and S went on sale. Many victorious stories of people spamming the F5 key fast enough to get through and unfortunately sad stories of others being beaten by the dreaded web page error demon. Whichever way you look at it, emotions were all over the place.

We have been noticing a lot of posts coming up of people celebrating their pre-orders, noticing their pre-orders being cancelled, and others noticing some sites still having stock and wanting to share. So we figured it would be best to have a megathread for everyone to share all this information in one place. So any of these posts made outside of the megathread will be removed, it all must be put in here.

We would love to try and update this posts with links to sites, but with how quick they sell out we just wouldn't be fast enough so we'll be keeping the sorting by new as the default so people will hopefully be able to catch those type of posts. For those having their pre-orders cancelled, be sure to share it here and any solutions that you might have to help others so that they don't fall victim to it too if its possible to avoid happening.

As always, if you guys have any suggestions on something to add to this megathread be sure to let us know in modmail.

    - r/xboxone mod team.

Read Before You Buy A New TV For your Xbox

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 06:23 AM PDT

Now people have pre-ordered their console their attention is starting to turn towards their TV and saying to themselves "I need to upgrade". I have seen so many posts about it and I still think there is a lot of confusion.

You do not NEED a tv with HDMI 2.1 ,most games will be 4k@60 so your existing set will be fine. This is the first generation on consoles where their technology has leapt ahead of mass available display technology. Seriously wait 12 months for the prices to fall and for 2.1 to become more readily available.

If you absolutely must upgrade please do no fall for clever marketing. Samsung have a QLED tv with HDMI 2.1 for around £700 in a 50" flavour. Sounds ideal right? Far from it, although it has HDMI2.1 it is fitted with a 60hz panel so will max out at 60fps. Expect to part with at least £1,500 at the moment for a tv that will take advantage of all the features available from your shiny new Xbox.

If you are buying a TV do your research, find out what panel it has and find out under what circumstances certain features are available. Some LG's only allow VRR at lower fps. Even if a TV is advertised as 120hz, that does not mean it can do [120hz@4k](mailto:120hz@4k). The devil is in the detail.

If anyone here has a recommendation for the perfect tv, or at least one that supports all the features please comment with the model number so people who want to upgrade know what direction to go in.

For researching your TV's, RTINGS.COM is highly recommended
