Finally got a sealed copy of my favorite 360 game!

Bought a MW3 Limited Edition for $30 and saved it from suffocating (see pics). Previous owner had to have been a smoker based on the stickiness of the dust that collected within.

    Cleaning the power supply

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 08:23 PM PDT

    Cleaning the power supply

So I looked up a few videos on cleaning the power supply (there's a fan inside) and all of the ones I saw destroyed the screw coverings in some fashion. I thought I'd share my approach that keeps everything intact. I'm sure plenty of you probably already know this, but just thought I'd share anyway.

First use a spudger to take off the rubber feet

Use a tiny flat-head screwdriver to pry the plastic cover underneath

Place the screwdriver between the edge and the raised center

So to remove the plastic caps underneath the rubber feet without destroying them, place the screwdriver as shown above. The idea is to use the raised center as a fulcrum and use a lever action to pry up the plastic cover by its edge. So push into the edge and pry up. MAKE SURE TO USE A TOWEL TO COVER THE SCREWDRIVER! This will prevent the cap from flying off into the ether, never to be found again! The towel will also protect your other hand covering the cap and screwdriver. A few torx screws later...

    Separate the two \"halves\" but...

Be careful that you don't yank the halves apart too quickly and damage the power cable to the fan

    After a few screws...

...you should have access to the fan blades.

A soft, used toothbrush to brush the dust down away from everything else should do just fine. It may even be helpful to dampen the brush a bit.

Can someone explain this to me?

Just found this old boy, I know its not as good as the first one but I still love it..

So my kids found an old guitar hero 3 guitar the other day...

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 03:05 PM PDT

We have a bin of old gaming stuff. Couple that with a CD binder of about 200 sleeves and it brought me here. It sent me down this fantastic path of nostalgia. I ended up downloading all the rockband songs I'd bought. As I was showing them how to play, I ended up going to world tour for the beginner mode. (Turns out kids these days don't understand games that don't come with a touch screen) Now, I've just finished "what I've done" from Linkin park, in guitar hero world tour, and it made me sad. Sad because I haven't played this game in years and I never should have let all my gear go in the trash. You know they want north of $1000 to get the new band kit for Xbox one! Bullshit. We fucked up and let the collectors have this genre.

Also rip Chester Bennington. I'm not a monster.

This keeps happening. Made the account on the same Xbox 360 and connected through Ethernet if that helps

Started a few trial downloads, and suddenly getting this message when trying to start another trial download. Pressing OK simply cancels said download without pulling up even the first of the confirmations. Has anyone else seen this?

    Can't update my 360 slim

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 06:15 PM PDT

Basicly, I need to download an update in my xbox but I can't because I need xbox live for that

Is there any way to istall this updates without xbox live via usb drive or something? Because I couldn't find any way to sign up for the xbox live service for 360

Please, I really want to play with it any help is welcome

Edit: I just realized I didn't say exactly what happens

Every time I turn on the console a message appears telling me to download the update. When I try to download it, it says that I need to connect to xbox live (I do not have the contracted service) I tried to buy a month of xbox live but I only find things for xbox one and there's nothing for 360. I can play a few games, for example minecraft. My previous worlds are inaccessible, an error occurs when opening them and when I create new ones they are never saved. I also cannot play some games that the console includes and every time I do something that requires access to the storage it asks me to download the update, it gives me warnings saying that nothing I do will be saved, etc. I can't do it either and not only because of the current situation of the virus but also because of my financial situation I can not afford to take it somewhere to fix it. Please give me some advice

Can't play xbox games on 360, helpo?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 05:52 PM PDT

Hard drive looks legit, and it used to belong to my partner who I KNOW isnt tech savvy enough to buy a hard drive and install it, so it had to have just come with the console, meaning its legit. Ive run several updates but still nothing. Wikipedia says the games Im trying work with the 360's backwards whatever.... Waddahell...

    80072741 Error When Trying to Download Game...then errors ( &errors, &errors...)

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 04:21 PM PDT

This is in regards to a 360.

About a week ago, I tried downloading a game. Those is not the first time I've downloaded games, but the first time it had an issue.

The first time I tried to download it, it hung at 0%. I cancelled it after an hour or so and restarted the download. Once again it hung. I tried again later and started getting errors. The first few times, I got a 80072741 on attempting to download it from download history. That's when things got odd. I started getting that error elsewhere when interacting with Xbox Live. I looked up troubleshooting steps, and I did the following: - removed all user profiles - powered the unit off - unplugged it from the wall - plugged it in again - powered up the unit - downloaded the profile again

    Once I signed in again, I tried the download again and started getting other errors including: - 80072741 - 80004005 - 8007065b - 8007274d - 807B01F4

It also made me sign in every time with my password. It would get stuck at the "click here to remember the password page". I was able to get it to stick when I redownloaded my profile. With all of the errors I tried a few things, including Xbox live network connection tests which all succeeded. Finally, I formatted the hard drive to reset it to factory settings. Unfortunately, it didn't even help and the same issues happened, if not worse.

This has never been a problem before the download, so I'm doubtful that it could be my network, but it should be fine, since I've never had issues with it. I also checked the router logs and it shows successful traffic to Xbox live domains.

    Sign in not working

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 10:00 AM PDT

I recently created an account for my old xbox360 as I could not remember my old one. After I was then asked to sign in. I signed in using my email and password. Afterwards a greyed our checkbox saying "remember my password" came up. I could not check it so I waited. It eventually failed.

After trying again and power-cycling my WiFi and Xbox nothing has worked.

Is there anything I can do?

Is the 2002 Spider-Man game really BC on 360? Also Simpsons Hit & Run?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 09:39 AM PDT

I'm thinking of trying to get a 360 or an OG Xbox. Would make more sense to get the OG since that's my favorite Xbox and played so much on it when I was a kid. But would get a 360 again to play any 360 games that aren't BC on Xbox One. Has anyone played the mentioned games on a 360? I saw on Wikipedia that they are but can anyone confirm before I get a 360?

Hi guys, so basically as I turned on my Xbox today (not the first time), I noticed that the palette of colors turned super green, and I don't know how to fix that. It gotta be the machine's problem as, the screen and hdmi cables are perfectly fine. Would appreciate some help, maybe you guys had the same issue?

Do the rechargeable battery packs ever swell up or leak?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2020 10:37 AM PDT

I have not been able to find a clear answer on google

So I own some really old rechargeable battery packs that come with the detachable wire to charge the controller. I was wondering if they will be a problem any time for me? Should I get rid of them and just use AA for future?
