    360 S Plastic lid top is warped/melted

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 01:50 PM PST

    Pictures Here

A couple years ago I noticed this area of warping/melting plastic on the top of the 360. I hope the pictures show it well but it's concerning how warped and dipped down it is. I can only assume some kind of overheating issue but the console is always kept in an open ventilated space.

I kept playing it for a while then stopped using the 360 altogether, then only recently started playing it again at my Dad's house.

Taking us to tonight. I was playing Assassin's Creed Black Flag for maybe 2 hours max from a disk copy. Aware of a heat change in the room, I felt the Xbox plastic and that's when I noticed that the warped area was really really hot so powered down and looked on the internet for answers.

Should I just do the vacuum cleaner trick on the sides or is there anything I should be looking at inside the console.

Is it safe to play games that are saved on flash memory and not play disks at all?

I should also say that I've never done any cleaning to the 360 other than superficial dusting and lifting a little dust out the sides. Additional console model information in hyperlinked Imgur album.

    Thanks

    Unable to Download

I decide to purchase LEGO Star Wars TCS, for nostalgia sake. But whenever I I try to download it, it stays at 0% and then says unable to download. I've cleared my cache, uninstalled the failed download and transferred my license. It still won't work! What do I need to do??

Help please! Cannot get WD hard drive to work in my 4GB 360

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 11:56 AM PST

    Hey everyone,
So I'm following a couple guides on how to get an old western digital laptop drive to work in my 4GB 360, and I can't get it to work. The model of drive is WD3200BEVT. I started with this guide:
    https://digiex.net/threads/hack-a-250gb-320gb-or-500gb-sata-harddrive-to-work-in-the-xbox-360-and-xbox-360-slim.3152/
The problem I'm having is the HDDHACKR part using DOS. It won't recognize the hard drive, and my BIOS doesn't have any options for that legacy ATA mode or whatever it needs. So I found this guide to modify the drive in windows using a hex editor:
    https://digiex.net/threads/xbox-360-how-to-flash-your-hddss-bin-in-windows.8569/
I completed that, and loaded it in Xplorer360. It recognizes the drive properly and I was able to write the partition to it. (I'm not sure if that's even necessary for 4GB Xbox, maybe the support for original games is on the 4GB internal memory?)
I tried the drive in my 360 without doing the partitions, and with doing the partitions. The unit didn't recognize it either way.
I also tried connecting it via USB to the back of my 360, and letting it format the drive. I connected it inside the console after, no dice.
I also tried taking that freshly formatted drive and applied the firmware modification with hex editor, and connecting it inside the 360. Still doesn't work.
I really don't know what else to try. Maybe the hard drive port on my 360 just doesn't work? Any other ideas?
    Thanks!

    Xbox 360 HDD on Xbox 360 S or E...

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 08:48 AM PST

I've been using my brother's hand me down original Xbox 360 console for a decade now and the poor thing is falling apart. I never experienced the dreaded red ring though which is good, it really has served me well.

Anyway, I'm looking to get an Xbox 360 S or E and wanted to make sure the external HDD I currently use will work for those consoles.

Also is there anything I need to do to make sure the transition to a "new" Xbox 360 goes as smoothly as possible. Thanks guys...
