I have both already, One X or Series S for 4K TV? Posted: 08 Mar 2021 06:20 PM PST I recently just picked up an Xbox Series S as an impulse birthday present to myself and I can't decide whether to replace my One X under my bedroom TV with it. Since it plays One S versions of games its often dramatically lower resolution compared to its One X counterpart and that's a shame. Even properly optimised Series S games also fall short (Outriders Demo for example). I understand it is capable of higher frame rates too (compared to One S) but even then in certain games the One X can also match it (Forza Horizon 4, New Super Lucky's Tale) while also having a higher resolution. 120Hz is a nonfactor for me at the moment. On the flipside, newer games and optimised games will basically be guaranteed to be better on the Series S or flatout won't work on the One X. AutoHDR looks great too. The console I don't pick will be set up in the lounge room connected to a 1080p TV which I feel is better suited to the Series S however it will very rarely be used. As the article mentions, this allows for a much better and faster browser experience with support for google chrome plugins. This means better support for browser apps such as discord and the upcoming xcloud browser implementation. According to the article, stadia will also work using the chromium edge browser on the xbox one.
