If feels like the Xbox community should relocate to the this sub for the launch of the Series X, given the naming convention implies future iterations will be in the same vein of compatibility

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:10 AM PST

It just seems like this gen there will be a bunch of differing system models that are all compatible and even with the Xbox One the games will be playable on this console. Seems like MS has taken the stance of "xbox" becoming a brand with games for pc, game pass, exclusives, and the console iterations that bring the same users together.

Xbox Series X - New Xbox console coming in 2020

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 06:16 PM PST

I really wish Xbox has better naming convention

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 06:31 PM PST

    • Xbox

    • Xbox 360 - why not Xbox 2?

    • Xbox One - err, ok

    • Xbox One S - err...

    • Xbox One X - sounds too close to "S"

    • Xbox Series X - WTF?

Getting my 65 year-old mom her first system - A few questions

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:49 AM PST

Since my mom now has more free time, she is asking for an xbox for christmas! My brother and I are both gamers so we 1000% support this. I'm a pretty casual / my pace gamer though, so I've never done multiplayer. I have a few questions I'm hoping this community can help with:

    1. I'm guessing that, with the announcement of the new console, the xbox One S and One X prices are going down. I personally have a One S. Is the difference worth getting her a One X or can she get by with the S?

    2. What would be some good family-friendly games to help her get familiar with controls? I think she would like a lot of the Lego games, but maybe that's too advanced at first? Maybe something less time-sensitive like a puzzle game would be a good starter? She loves Age of Empires on her computer. Anything like that?

    3. Once she gets familiar with the controls, are there some family-friendly multiplayer games that she and I can play together? (She's in another state.) Bonus points if it can cross-play with PS4, as that's what my brother currently has.

Elite controller (mk 1) gone haywire!

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 12:27 PM PST

My elite controller seems to have developed a fault, when I move the left stick it performs the same action R2.

So playing COD or SW ( or any shooter that uses R2 to fire) as soon as I move the left stick it starts firing and won't stop!

Anyone else had this and can suggest a fix?

Hi everyone, back with another giveaway (with the mods blessings).

YOU MAY ONLY ENTER ONCE. I will check that the winner has only commented one game prior to announcing them. If they chose more than one to increase their odds, I will choose someone different.

Merry Christmas! (or just Merry Saturday if you dont celebrate Christmas)

Did a quick and dirty CAD design comparison based on approximate size of the Xbox Series X using the controller as a size reference. This is close.

Who was the person talking during the Series X trailer?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:48 AM PST

I've heard him before on games, trailers, and even sampled a few times for music and his topics are always interesting.

Does anyone know who he is?

Can series X actually run 4K?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 11:15 AM PST

I don't know shit about tech or the specs for the new Xbox. My friend who plays pc & know more about tech than me says the series x can't run 4K and most PCs don't run 4K either. After seeing the trailers for series x I was thinking about buying a 4K monitor before series x comes out

Microsoft’s next Xbox, coming late 2020 is called the 'Xbox Series X'.

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 06:21 PM PST

You're all complaining about something 2.5 controllers tall like you wont be able to lay it horizontally like any other Xbox.

The business tactic for the XBOX X is a lot like Elon’s Cyber Truck..

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 12:29 PM PST

    • Both have unpredictable and unadorned designs that catch the eye for both the minimalist and pretty much anyone who are intrigued by how simplistic, yet interesting they look.

    • Elon's cyber truck had preorders for as many as 100K, with zero advertising— with the help of reddit memes. The Xbox X's design may trigger the same response, being how simplistic and unordinary it is.

    • Both have had their functionalities and technical aspects prioritized as opposed to their looks, which could now be setting a new precedent for how the things of the future may now look.

    • They both make us reflect on how we've evolved as users of technology. We're so used to seeing the standardized look of Ford F-150s... the beauty of Xbox 360s and PS3's.. that as the years go by, we're devolving more from beauty, and evolving more into the realm of capability.

    • It allows other company's to explore new ways to be innovative without fear of rejection, based on my second point made about how success can be made out of this. In turn, this'll also progress us further into the future.

[Note: in my opinion, the OG Xbox 360 is the most beautiful console ever made in gaming history... so I do agree that while the Xbox X pales in comparison to it, that doesn't mean we won't get used to the new one]

We should just call the new Xbox Series X as Series X. Like Xbox 360 or Xbox One, this one is just Xbox Series. Series X being high end and Series S(?) being the inexpensive model. Then I’d assume Series D would be the Digital no Disc model.

    Gyroscope on Xbox series x

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:46 AM PST

I've been looking everywhere and cant seem to locate any information on whether or not the next xbox controller has a gyroscope. The last controller didn't have it because they banked on kinect which failed, but I think this would be a good opportunity to finally support gyroscope.

I could never get into console shooters because stick only aiming is so dreadful that the game has to help you aim. With gyroscope you get mouse like precision which gets your gamepad at a more level playing field with mouse and keyboard. If the xbox finally supports gyroscope hopefully next gen we wont have to segregate gamers based on their input preference. I don't see why this cant be optional for the people that do want it, and once people figure out your cant compete against gyro users they also hop on board. Something is very wrong when superior input methods are considered cheating due to gamepad shortcomings.
