    Trying to proof the recent rumor about Scarlett's 12TF performance

    Hey everybody. I was the guy who posted this originally 6 months ago : Scarlett would be using a GPU with the 2nd Gen RDNA, surprisingly .

    Recently I've seen some promising rumors about the performance, like this one: https://www.windowscentral.com/xbox-scarlett-anaconda-lockhart-specs

    So I did some math to figure out if that's true or not.

    Target: proof that Scarlett can provide 12Teraflops (in RDNA's standard) of performance, with ray tracing

    Ground truths:

    1. TSMC said that 7nm+ can provide a 15-20% density boost (need to change design), and a 10% performance boost (without changing any design). Basically, if the RDNA 2 can utilize the 7nm+ process well, then RDNA 2 can provide a 25% performance upgrade, within the same die size.
    2. die size of 5700XT is 251mm^2. die size of a Zen2 chiplet is about 75mm^2.
    3. RT cores on Nvidia's RTX cards consume about 8-10% area space.
    4. Historically, all Xbox One's die size is about 360mm^2 (363 OG, 359 X1X).

    Supporting rumors:

    1. a leaker with good credit exposed this:

    Arden is the codename of consumer version of Scarlett SoC

    Basically it translates to "Arden is larger than OBR(supposedly to be PS5's SoC), (350 vs 300 mm^2)". So according to this leaker, the Scarlett SoC is 350mm^2.

    Proelite from Beyond3D made a calculation...

    User Proelite used the known parts' specs to calculate the die size of Scarlett's SoC. The result is varied from 360 to 380 mm^2. ( Digital Foundry acknowledged his calculation too. )

    1. So it's safe to assume that the Die Size of Scarlett SoC is about to be 350-380 mm^2, combined all those rumors together.

    So let's try to do the prove!

    As I said, Scarlett would be using RDNA2, featuring 7nm+. As I said before, the 7nm+ would provide a 25% performance boost if utilized properly for GPUs, within the same area size.

    We can assume that an RDNA2 GPU with the same die size of 5700XT, would provide 125% of performance. But from a conservative perspective, a 120% performance would already be enough for us to achieve about 12TFlops, since the 5700XT is already 9.75TFlops.

    350 - 250 = 100, we still have 100mm^2 of area budget.

    the rt cores are about to take up another 10% space, so it's 25mm^2. now we still have enough space to fit in a zen 2 chiplet (75mm^2).

    Yeah there are still some other problems like the IOs. But we were using standalone componants' sizes to make an assumption. Not all of those 251 or 75mm^2 of space were used to compute. Some of them were simply used to connect and some of them can be redundant for APU. It can save a lot of space by sharing parts or trimming unneccesarry parts / io ports. That's why the Scorpio Engine can fits in such a small chip instead of a large bunk like the RX 590 taped with a CPU.

    So that the result is, yes, if everything goes ideally, they can provide us a game console that is about to be on par with RTX 2080 ( not 2080 Ti though...). Let's just wait for the final reveal ...

    Seeing Dreams getting a full release on Playstation next year really makes me sad that Project Spark couldn't get off the ground.

    I had a lot of fun playing people's creations but do you guys think maybe it was just a bad time all around for Spark to be put out? I can't help but think of the bad pr that Xbox had at the time and maybe my mind is a little fuzzy, but did Spark not have a whole lot of tools to make decent games? Either way seeing the State of Play event really made me sad to see that while yes Dreams is more ambitious, we could have had something similar but it just didn't happen.

    Elite 2 clicking dpad

    I just picked up the elite 2 to gift to my boyfriend for christmas and the up and right button on the dpad depress very easily/further down that the left/down buttons (the down button almost has no give when pressing lightly). Also when pressing up there is a clicking noise. I inspected to see the flap inside the controller and noticed that the one on the up button actually lifts off the plastic it normally rests against and makes the clicking when reconnecting. I was wondering if anyone is noticing this on their new controllers? Is this how it is supposed to be or should i exchange for a new one?

    What do I need to connect a gaming headset into this port? I looked online and only managed to confuse myself, if a specific headset works with this port I am open to buying one specifically. Likewise with adaptors. Many thanks!

    Hey, I've been playing MCC on PC, windows 10 this last week just fine, I wanted to play some more today so I went to turn on my controller and it will not turn on.

    When I attempt to turn the controller on with the xbox button. the light will blink once, then it will turn off.

    I tried restarting my PC and that didn't work. So the next thing I did was check device manager and my wireless adapter and controller were both there, the controller was disconnected, but I removed the device from device manager.

    I have tried removing and reconnecting the wireless adapter (and removed it as a device from device manager several times) it seems to be working fine, however I cannot even turn on the controller to connect it.

    If I hold down the xbox button, then the xbox button light will continously flash until I stop holding it down.

    Could this be a battery problem? (I have only used this controller for a maximum of 30-40 hours) I do not have AA's to double check right now.

    This is a brand new controller that has been used for <30 hours and has never been dropped.

    I do not have a cable to connect the controller to my PC as that was not included in the wireless kit. (which only contained the wireless adapter and controller)

    Has anyone experienced this issue before or knows how to fix it?

    [edit] It was just a battery problem, probably. I connected the controller via micro-usb to my PC and it's working again. weird! battery life is very short.

    I just bought the Game Pass for 1 dollar with the intention of redeeming the 6th months of Spotify Premium. I looked up how I'm supposed to get it and the FAQ said that there would be an email sent to me and a message to my Xbox. Neither of those have shown up yet. Is it delayed or is this a normal wait?

    Is there a headset like the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 that allows me to hear in game sounds as well as connect with Bluetooth and listen to phone audio at the same time?

    This is the only headset I can find that has this capability. Why aren't more manufacturers coming out with headsets like these. I'm current 700s are reaching EoL and I might just have to end up getting the same pair again. I really like the ability to hear videos and music without taking my headphones off in-between rounds in games. Does any other manufacturer make a headset that works with Xbox that can play Bluetooth audio as well at the same time.

    Can't access game I purchased

    I'm new to modern gaming so I might have made a mistake. I bought CoD Modern Warfare through Blizzard's website and linked my xbox live account but cant find the game anywhere. It says I can download the game at battle.net but it doesn't even show up. What am I doing wrong?
