Xbox 360 can’t run a specific on disc game

I'm running into an issue with a refurbished Xbox I've had no problems with up until recently. I got NHL 10 as a Christmas gift this year since I'm trying to collect them all and tried playing it. First disc kept coming up as unreadable, but was able to at least load into the main menu. The disc looked fairly beat up when under direct light so I tried the toothpaste/deodorant method to no avail.

I bought another disc off eBay thinking it was just the disc but this one too can't even start up without it crashing immediately with the "clean disc error". This disc looks good and I haven't had a problem with any other on disc game or NHL game.

From some old posts online I saw there were issues with NHL 10 (and even 09) and others were getting the same error. I tried some solutions like clearing my system cache and deleting the game from my hard drive. I even tried directly downloading both discs to my hard drive but the installation would stop around 40%. Nothing.

Does anyone have a possible solution? It's just NHL 10. The next step is looking at my optical drive but is that the issue if every other game works?

Clean your 360's vents

I have had my xbox 360 slim for years and I have never cleaned the side vents properly only cleaning the outside of the system. Recently the performance of the system was getting bad like playing gow 1 loading would pop up on screen a lot and the system freeze for a few seconds and the fans would be louder. So if anyone is noticing something similar make sure to check and clean them it greatly improves the performance.

Generic Xbox 360 controller keeps randomly disconnecting

I've purchased a new generic Xbox 360 wireless controller to use with my PC. I have two original controllers from my old Xbox 360 that are still working. They all connect to the generic Xbox 360 PC adapter.

The new controller has an issue where it randomly disconnects. This happens whether I plug it into the play and charge, use the battery pack it came with, or use rechargeable AA batteries. I'm not sure what is causing the issue, since even if I vigorously shake the controller around it won't switch off. But in a game it'll randomly switch off, requiring holding down the guide button to switch it on again. I tried opening it up, but the screws are way too tight. Has anyone run into an issue like this?
