Potentiometer Tuning or Laser Lens Swap? Posted: 10 Jun 2021 10:16 PM PDT I purchased an Xbox 360 Arcade from a local Salvation Army. I had no proof of whether it was tested, but I bought it hoping it would work. It was manufactured in August 2009, so I generally trust the motherboard and chipset inside is in good shape, especially after giving it a much-needed cleaning and dust removal internally. The disc drive gives the "Open Tray" error. The drive makes two noises when the laser lens adjusts to reach the correct point on the disc, then spins for a moment before stopping entirely. I spent about half an hour readjusting the potentiometers (without a multimeter - just to mess with it and hope for dumb luck) to no avail. At no point did any game work, so I'm almost entirely convinced I should just replace the laser lens assembly. However, I'm also tempted to try adjusting the pots again with a multimeter. Does anyone have input as to which option I should choose, or maybe choose both to see what works and what doesn't? [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jun 2021 03:15 PM PDT Hey guys! I haven't touched my 360 in probably like 6-7 years (I have the Slim), but I'm feeling nostalgic and there are some games on there I never finished so I thought I'd go back to them. Unfortunately, my controllers seem to not be working so great. They worked fine when I used the console daily back in 2012 and 2013, but they drop connection almost instantly now. I've found that if I push the battery pack inwards and keep applying pressure, it will stay connected, but as soon as I let up, the controller turns off. I think there might be an issue with the contacts in the battery pack or the controllers, but it's weird that it happened on both of my controllers. Anyone dealt with this in the past or have any ideas? [link] [comments]
